hi pak i tried the metatools in blender too to see if you can export to bryce and it worked like a dream. just right click and choose convert object then the metaballs are frozen into a normal mesh you can even keep the metaballs for later tweaking then under file export as .obj and import in bryce easy as that

for some free stuff i made
and for almost daily fotos

Aye, when this technology first hit the public market, in Amorphium, we wre trying all kinds of weird stuff. Back then they were called, "Biospheres", and it was a blast... I'm curious why you'd want to do metaballs in another program, though, just to import them into Bryce? Lightwave and Amorphium already did that...

pakled: convert makes a regular mesh out of the meta tools when you export you choose the .obj format.

shadow: there are more meta shapes in blender like cube plane etc. and its fast

Ahhhh... But PoserPP and Poser5 has "MetaForms" too and are Exportable as an Animation into Bryce Via the awesome Daz Studio...

Aha! I knew you were a beta tester FP!

foleypro ( ) posted Fri, 19 November 2004 at 10:50 PM · edited Fri, 19 November 2004 at 10:59 PM

Yes Danamo I have Betatested several Versions of Metaforms and I am in the process of Betatesting sevral more Proggies( :0).. ) and Plugins...4 I think...Sometimes it leaves no time for making Pics or animations... Yes you can Export your Metaform Animation out of Poser Via an Obj file for each frame and then you Put all of the Meshes and textures in the same folder then you Import into DS and then Export out as Bryce object the you import into Bryce,BUT make sure it is all in one folder...You can also use the Turbo Importer and of course you can use Natural Pose... But just wait I assume that DAZ will be making it Possible for us Brycers to import BVH format in one of the up and coming Versions...

Hot Dawg!! That would presume that a lot more sophistication will possibly be added to Bryce's animation capabilities, such as IK, morphing, maybe even eventually physics and particles.

foleypro ( ) posted Fri, 19 November 2004 at 11:27 PM

Yes in the forums at Daz it was a topic and was mentioned that the first version from DAZ would be just an Upgrade to the code base,Fixing the Outstanding Bugs and Refineing the codebase While Putting in a New Rendering Engine...But it was also mentioned that in the future Versions that there is a ton of Possibilities...It all depends on one thing....The communities commitment to DAZ, If WE buy and Buy strong After DAZ shows us what will be in this Minor Upgrade then they can Do what was Planned from the get go....And what should have been going on for the Last 4-5 years since it was Shelved...Taking Bryce to the Next Level... I pray for a Partical System...Hopefully By Version 7...

Hey shadow, meta objects were around before amorphium, POVRay had 'blobs' that were in actual fact quite configurable metaballs - very useful indeed, the downside was that the whole scene had to be described textually, lots of hard work but good results.

shadowdragonlord ( ) posted Sat, 20 November 2004 at 8:07 AM

Aye, you might be right, Gog. But alas, Play, the cmopany that published Amorphium 1, was also the company that did the T-1000 in 'Terminator 2'. This was the first visual example, aside from 'The Abyss' of metaballs. They are the ones who developed the technology, and thus i give them the credit for it.

TobinLam ( ) posted Sat, 20 November 2004 at 4:25 PM

Has anybody made an animation of two differently textured metaballs merging? It is way tight. Metaballs are the best!

Aye, Tobin! They certainly do rule. I dont' think that imported metaballs will blend the way Brycean metaballs blend their materials...

Truespace has a Fairly good Partical system too...With help...

pakled ( ) posted Sat, 20 November 2004 at 10:28 PM

y'know..with this kind of knowledge..don't neglect the Blender forum..most of the posts are from folks as clueless as I..;) they could use you in there..;)

You know when I first got on the Net back in 2000 I downloaded Blender...But never gave it a try...Maybe I should...Got a Updated Link...?

danamo ( ) posted Sun, 21 November 2004 at 12:08 AM

Sure do, it's also located in the new Blender Forum masthead. Now Blender has multiple levels of undo, excellent particles, advanced modeling tools, Radiosity,GI and a slug-load of other pro features besides being able to render using Yafray. If only they didn't have an interface that is so inscrutable, lol. I'm slowly picking it up, and it costs just as much as Wings, which I've learned to love.

danamo ( ) posted Sun, 21 November 2004 at 12:09 AM

Attached Link: http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Blender.31.0.html

Oooops, here's the link,lol!

foleypro ( ) posted Sun, 21 November 2004 at 12:27 AM

Yep I downloaded and installed...Hmmmm going to take awhile getting used to that Interface...better start reading the Manual...and Tutorials...

Oh shooot...I need to get Back To MayaPLE too...Too many Programs and never enough time...
