Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 22 10:18 pm)
The PO2 trick doesn't work any more in Poser 5. I agree that it's easier to see, but I didn't find it easier to use overall. Maybe I just got thoroughly accustomed to the normal Poser interface before somebody told me about the PO2!

I still end up using my good old PPP... dont like the dial adjustments on P5... I think mine is wonkie... every time I use a dial and release it... it jumps backward or forward 2-3 clicks. Pity.. cos I liked the folder structure. Does PO2 work for PPP...?

Yes. And I heartily agree with your sense of P5. It may be OK for folks who mainly use mouse-moves, but it's just maddening for dial adjustment.

Maybe you should look into wonkie.
I'm in my first week of Poser5, I am dial crazy, and everything is working splendidly with the dials. Sometimes I spin them, sometimes I click on the number and type in a value, sometimes I DClick on the dial to get to the graph for animation.
Now, I do notice that when I grab the dial and spin to a certain value, when I let go (un-click) the numerical value DOES change a tick or two. However, the position of the body part does NOT move. I figure that is some sort of rounding or equalizing or maybe even limits interaction. I never even noticed it before, because the body part change is rock solid when I let go. I don't even know if that's the way it was in P4PP!
I love the collapsing file structure.

operaguy: I figured the same thing, but... personally I find it VERY annoying. When I am putting together all the parts of my models under construction I like to know it is all lining up precisely. I rely on the dial settings a great deal as I set things up to numbers rather than looking at the actual item on screen as I move them. So my eyes are on the dials most of the time and not on Posers viewports. Yes.... I could type in the values but that is time consuming and frustrating. In PPP the dials are spot on and stay where they are when you release the mouse button. My P5 is gonna stay back in its box till a fix comes out... if it ever does. I am not f... f... flaming by the way.. just making a personal observation. ziggie

ziggie, Now that I understand your approach, yes, that would drive me out of my mind also! And I agree, typing in every value would be unacceptable. That would make me uninstall Poser5. What does Curious say? Do they admit it is a bug in Poser5? Or do they claim it is a feature, an improvement over ver4? ::::: Opera :::::

I've been having a hard time reading dials at high res in Poser, so I went around looking for a font hack. Came across the Poser 2.0 interface trick, and THEN I started using it. Good grief, way easier to use! And very responsive under Os X Classic, to boot. I find using the PO2 mode is great for adjusting lights, cameras and general posing, but for materials, finishing touches, etc, best for the default UI. Anyone else here use PO2 mode? Big surprise for me. The controls work very similar to other 3d apps I've used in the past. Does Poser 5 still have this?
