Hi! My english is poor. sorry. I'm element user of poser. So, I need your help. You know, there is two check in figure > Use inverse kinematics > Right leg (and left leg) I want to uncheck default. So I have to edit cr2 file as text editor. I want to know where I have to edit in cr2 file? Please help me.

If you just want the figure to open with IK off, simply re-save the figure back to the library once again after checking IK off. The .cr2 will re-open in the same state in which it was saved.

Its hard coded into Poser. IK chains with the internal name of "rightLeg" and "leftLeg" are turned on by default when the figure is loaded. The solution is to edit the names in the CR2 file. In a text editor search for "inkyChain rightLeg" and change it to "inkyChain right-Leg". Below it you'll see an "on" flag that you can change to "off". Its not changing the flag that makes the difference, its changing the internal name. The flag is now just a working option, not one that is going to be overridden by Poser.

Repeat for the left leg.

I have no words to express my gratitude. I express my gratitude to jupiterkris, PhilC and Nance.

Whoopsie - My mistake! Thanks for the correction Phil. Seems Id completely forgotten the required name change to enable the Reload as Saved ability. I mean REALLY forgotten - to the point that even when reminded I could not recall ever having made those changes. Had to go check a current .CR2 and compare it to an original Victoria. All worked as described by PhilC and Jim Burton in the thread linked above by jupiterkris. An original Victoria saved with IK OFF will reset to IK ON when reloaded.

HOWEVER--

Oddly though, a modified Stephanie .CR2 I checked opens OK with IK OFF, yet, contrary to the info above, appears to have retained the original inkychain name:

inkyChain RightLeg
{
off
name RightLeg
addLink rThigh:2
addLink rShin:2
goal rFoot:2
linkWeight 0 1
linkWeight 1 0.2
}

The original DAZ Victoria I checked, (that does reset the saved IK state back to ON when reloaded), also had the capital R in RightLeg, so I presume that letter Case is not the difference, which leaves me a little confused as to why the Steph figure opens with IK off, yet still appears to have retained the original inkyChain name.

Are my eyes getting as fuzzy as my memory, or is there perhaps another factor involved? (P4)

(I also see that the Steph based figure I checked was saved as a :2 figure and not a :1 does the IK Auto Reset only apply to the first figure?)

(Sorry for messing with a clear answer for a Nubie and one who has some difficulty with English.)

It's amazing how many people don't like to use IK. I find it extremely useful for both posing and animating, and only hope they also incorporate FK (forward kinematics) in the future! LONG LIVE IK!!! hehe. ;-)

Nance- It could be, normally you wouldn't want to have a figure's internal number set to other than :1, though. It will screw up Poser 5, which assumes 1s are figures, higher numbers coming in are clothing, for one thing, and the JCM is going to point to the wrong figure, too. Incidently, most of the DAZ figures come with IK set to OFF, they just don't load that way in any version of Poser, I bet they do in DAZ Studio, though.

Wait a minute. I've created characters based upon Victoria AND Michael and even as I type have a load in my Character palette. Usually I save the tunes with IK ON. At times I do turn off IK and sometimes I save the characters, after some modification or something, with IK OFF and when I reload them IK is STILL OFF. Is this because I've changed their names? I know I have some of the girls saved with IK off now ... Mystified, Rance

PS: IK on/off buttons should be right there on the Poser desktop. That would be great. No more Figure menu clicking, clicking, clicking to turn them on and off en masse.
