Vue 5 Pro will become Vue 5 Infinite when it is realeased early 2005 and a number of new modules will be available for Vue 5 Esprit including a plant building module. I have attached the link for the e-on press release. Thought this might be interesting. Paula

Looks at the prices. Ouch. Guess I wait till next christmas ~s~

Veritas777 ( ) posted Mon, 13 December 2004 at 7:40 PM

I hope they will have a module for Python use in Vue 5 as well as a Cartoon-Anime Cel Shader module for Vue 5. And, as mentioned in the thread below- a way for Vue 5 to support full Poser model posing dials in Vue 5. See the other thread on how E-on could do this and not go beyond their Curious Labs Poser-Import SDK arrangement...

counting the chickens before the eggs... well we all know the proverb. Update vuepro out of beta! Its time. Anyone agree?

megalodon ( ) posted Tue, 14 December 2004 at 1:27 AM

You're not being realistic bonnyclump. I have Lightwave - version 7.5 had (I believe) four service releases. It is no longer being updated. All resources are working on updating version 8. Yes, there are still bugs in version 7.5. Will they be fixed? No. Perhaps another service release will appear for Vue4 Pro - perhaps you should ask E-On? And yes... we can get into the whole debate on buggy software and it's the customer who gets screwed, yada-yada-yada and we have crappy software. I'm outa that debate! :) I will be waiting to see how well Vue Infinite will perform. I personally hope it has better atmospheres - something like what Terragen 2 will have. I'm beginning to understand why the majority on this forum become exasperated when you post. Please direct the constant E-On bashing to their tech support. Everyone already knows your position here. Thank You! Megalodon

I hope the "infinite" part doesn't refer to the price...

(edited because my attempt to include an infinity sign was unsuccessful)

Just for clarification: Could I have Vue and Poser open at the same time (where Vue scans for changes in the .pz3 file every n seconds), so that I could tweak a mesh to fit the scene better? (I have Poser 5 and Vue 5 on Mac OSX 10.3...) That would be extremely cool (esp. on a dual-monitor setup)... any ideas as to when they'll have it ready? And yeah, a Mac version would be preferable. :) BTW - I don't have Mover, so I don't know offhand - does Mover import/convert 'bones', so that a mesh can be posed within Vue directly? Can you use existing morphs on it once imported? If not, then DeepAccess sounds like something I would definitely be interested in getting (assuming it works and doesn't suck down every scrap of RAM or CPU power I have...) Personally, if Mover doesn't already do it, a small Poser-like module that lets one directly modify a mesh within the proggie would be way better, but that's a job for both companies, not one. " counting the chickens before the eggs... well we all know the proverb." I come out of the Linux world, where such things are SOP; yet my Linux boxes are sturdier and more agile than they were when Windows XP was installed on it. Besides - it helps me in planning ahead. /P

nanotyrannus ( ) posted Tue, 14 December 2004 at 11:04 AM

Penguinisto: to answer your questions. Deep access will allow you to update a pose in poser and update in Vue if both are open or only vue is open, you just save the pz3 file and Vue will recognize that it has changed and ask you to update it. The feature is already available in Vue 4 Pro but for those of us who may not need a lot of the other Pro features it will be nice to have the module option. Mover 5 does not convert bones and unfortunately Vue is currently not capable of posing or adjusting poser figures directly, but there's a lot of demand out there for it judging by this forum so I'm sure they're thinking about it. Hope this helps!

Penguinisto ( ) posted Tue, 14 December 2004 at 11:11 AM

Coolness... so it does scan the .pz3 for changes, which means I can just keep one proggie open on each monitor and tweak it to taste. I like that; settling a figure onto an uneven Vue terrain or surface without a zillion years of re-importation/re-positioning/etc. has been a pet peeve of mine for a long time. /P

Vue Infinite.....with an upgrade of $149 from Vue 4 Pro......

Sounds like a deal to me.

I am very glad to see this.

Now, let's see -- what do I want for a gift this year......even if I have to buy it for myself.......?

ditto. $150 for the v4 pro to v5 infinte sounds great to me - especially since it sounds like v5 infinite includes Mover, which I don't have yet.

vue4 to vue5 esprit to vue5 infinite = 548$/ vue4 esprit to vue4 pro to vue5 infinite = 449$/ :) well 100 isnt that little so if anyone is still using vue4 and youre thinking of upgrading and you have the money dont miss the end of year deal on vue4 to vue4 pro.

Dragontales ( ) posted Thu, 16 December 2004 at 2:00 PM

I'm quite glad about the annoucement. I'm a very new Vue user and so far am quite impressed with it. I bought 5 d'esprit. I think the upgrade will be $199. But as someone who does use poser, I can see the huge benefit of being able to tweak the figure and have it update in vue. My only last concern is how the professional editions deal with the textures. I find it very very combersome to deal with the textures from a poser scene. In 3d max you had multi-texture materials. Which meant that one material would hold all the different materials for the figure. Now it's broken up into like 30. Is there an easier way to do this kind of thing in vue? Dragontales

Vue pro is gone after its 1st release I feel like a sucker. Very disappointed in this company and software. Read fast before agiel deletes! Thay spend too much time on salesmanship and not enough time updating their bete updates. I hate them and agiel too for hiding and changing the truth. Agiel why are you such a fake! I'm still waiting to render stars across a network for four years! Agiel I blame you for everything with you lame critique's and censorship of this forum you single handedly manage to make vue completely mediocre. Great job! (sarcasm) Is this too much feeling for agiel? Too emotional that I write from my heart what I feel, think, and observe.? Is this forum real agenda to bring noobies to bad software with the worst support ever? Dare to keep this post up and feel what a real vue users feels, agiel. Up for the challenge? Your predictable actions speak loud enough.

megalodon ( ) posted Fri, 17 December 2004 at 1:07 PM

Hey bonnyclump.... simmer down! :) I've had my issues with Vue4 Pro, but it appears that Vue 5 Infinite is the next step AFTER Vue4 Pro. Why would you feel like a sucker? And the upgrade to 5 Infinite from 4 Pro is only $149 - that sounds like a REAL GOOD deal. I think I will probably end up getting this as soon as it comes out rather than waiting to see how it works. And concerning the "render stars acrosss a network" bug, I thought that Petshoo (I think) said that it WAS working. What was the latest reply from E-On about this? It's a shame that EVERY time I see your posts, they are ALWAYS negative. I had posted weeks ago for you to list the shortcomings in a professional matter, but you did not respond with a list - just the same negative posting in other threads. I can now see why everyone here is tired of "listening" to you. Apparently people here have found ways to work around the problems - perhaps it is now time for you to do so. Then again, why not try the new Bryce from DAZ? I'm NOT the biggest supporter of E-On - I just found out that they are discontinuing development on Ozone for Lightwave. This is a shame, since I was hoping for improved clouds like those of the upcoming Terragen2. Oh well, too bad for me and everyone else who was hoping to upgrade Ozone2 to version 3. That being said... I'm still looking forward to these new Vue releases - particularly Infinite. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised! Vue is still the easiest landscape generation program "out there" and hopefully they will continue to improve it AND address bugs quickly. We shall see. Megalodon

Penguinisto ( ) posted Fri, 17 December 2004 at 1:35 PM

BTW - any idea as to when they intend to release these modules? /P

Tiny ( ) posted Fri, 17 December 2004 at 1:36 PM

I work with Vue4pro almost every day between 8 to 14 hours. It works fine. I have heavy scenes, work lots and lots with materials and lights and it works fine.
And to make sure it works fine I take a coffee brake now and then and close both application and computer to "let them rest" 10 minutes.
I make sure not to "click hysterically" back and forth. I treat the application gently. And it works fine.

Apperently many of us do not have a lot of problems with Vue4pro.

Ms_Outlaw ( ) posted Fri, 17 December 2004 at 5:14 PM

I happened to like Vue pro a lot. I like vue 5 better... and LOVE that I don't have to pour out a ton of money to get the one thing I really need. (Yes reread it and realized I can buy just the modual I want) Bonnie, I'm assuming you're going under the assumtion that the 'squeaky wheel gets the grease' in this case all it does is get ignored. If I 'hated' any program as much as you seem to I sure wouldn't be using it. If I was on a forum that I didn't agree with how it was run... I wouldn't be there... Don't you think it's time to move on? Life is too damn short to stress over this stuff.

Doesn't Vue Pro (and likely Infinite), actually allow you to export Vue scenes to Lightwave, sky and all? Brian

megalodon ( ) posted Fri, 17 December 2004 at 7:30 PM

Brian, That may very well be the case, though I preferred Ozone as a direct plugin within Lightwave. If it IS possible to export animatable sky info from Pro or Infinite to LW, it's still an extra step outside of LW. Most of the time I use stills of skies from VuePro and comp them with our architectural models - but sometimes animated (and volumetric) Ozone skies are preferrable. Then again... if it is the only way possible... AND... if the clouds are as great as Terragen2 looks to be, it may be worth it! :) Megalodon

war2 ( ) posted Fri, 17 December 2004 at 7:39 PM

bonnyclump as pointed out by others, the star network render bug has been fixed for quite some time, something ive seen ppl tell you in thread after thread

timoteo1 ( ) posted Tue, 21 December 2004 at 9:56 AM

I don't know about the claims of Agiel's interferance, etc., but Bonnyclump is 100% correct about the rendercows. They are absolutely horrible ... completely broken and unusable. There was a "fix" for the stars issue (I am the person that originally brought it up to the techs and was given the "fix") ... but unfortunately it just "breaks itself" again, and you won't know it until you render a new animation.

The people that think Vue works perfectly are OBVIOUSLY NOT animating. I agree it is a wonderful package for STILL RENDER folks, but animators are consistently aggravated by things like the render cow issues among a myriad of others. Most users have no clue about these problems simply because they do ZERO animation, or simplistic animation. Vue has GREAT potential, but unfortunately there are some serious flaws holding it back.

Vue 4 Pro is by far the best release and shows they have come a long way, which is why I'm looking forward to Vue 5 Infinite ... plus I can get it for $49, that doesn't hurt either. ;) But I can empathize with Bonnyclump's notion of "feeling like a sucker", as we keep paying for upgrades but some of the same basic problems remain unfixed. Here's to hoping that 5 solves most of these issues.

-Tim

Dale B ( ) posted Tue, 21 December 2004 at 2:05 PM

Mine work just fine, Tim. I admit I haven't messed with the starfield issue, as I haven't done any space anims yet. But I've found that many of the issues people have had tend to be related to expectations, not neccesarily bugs. And define 'simplistic animation', please, so we are both on the same page regarding issues.

timoteo1 ( ) posted Tue, 21 December 2004 at 2:48 PM

Unfortunately, it's not just starfields ... they are just the most obvious. There are issues with textures, shadows, etc. There is also the problem of Rendercows crashing and/or locking up, forcing you to go around to all your machines and restart manually.

Beyond RC, there are still issues with OpenGL (albeit this area has seen MUCH improvement), crashes after adding more than one camera and switching, Object Replace, non-standard axis, etc. And yes, some are expectations ... for example the timeline interface (basically the animation interface) is one of the worst I have ever seen in my life. But that is another chapter in and of itself.

"Simplistic animation" is fairly subjective, but basically I mean importing only the most simple of PZ3 files, basic lighting and simple textures, and linear camera moves, etc. Then there are the render settings ... basically anything that doesn't require multiple CPU's crunching on the render (image size not withstanding) because of the sheer complexity of the scene and render settings.

The Rendcow has gotten better -- it was COMPLETELY useless in Vue 4 -- but even in Pro it is still exhibiting problems, and it is one of the main reasons I wanted to use Vue.

Best,
Tim

Lyne ( ) posted Tue, 04 January 2005 at 7:53 PM

I love my vue 4... never got Pro because it was too expensive even as a side grade... now it looks like I will have to pay a huge price for V5-I .... I would have only saved $50 if I had 5 or Pro to upgrade from... I NEED two of the modules for sure.... It just feels like the vue 4 users will be left out of any price break. $380 is what I think it will cost me...and that is a LOT of $$ to me. :(

Life Requires Assembly and we all know how THAT goes!

war2 ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 4:01 AM

but then again 380us$ isnt that much for what so far look like a true pro landscape app thats in my eyes looking like a seriously big improvement over whats currently being offered and it is a 200us$ discount, i realy feel its a fair upgrade price for v4 esprit users, just my opinion. Of course i woudnt mind it if e.on gave everyone a early extra discount to upgrade :) its of course alot of money, but you could settle for v5 + two of those modules. disclaimer: im not 100% sure what the v4e to v5i price was cant remember it so it could be more.
