We had such kind and loving compliments from a recent thread, that some of the PAs got together, and decided to create yet another freebie. It was created especially for a certain few people per their request. As requested, it does not require any other product whatsoever, and the hope is that it is accepted in the spirit that it is presented. Here is the link, and Happy Holidays from it's creators!

I loved this when I first saw it in the PA forum, and I'm pleased to have a copy of it on my hard drive now. It's PERFECT. :-) bonni

Locked threads should be treated like Vegas... What happens in a locked thread should stay in the locked thread. Do you really want to start stirring up trouble? Especially after some people have attempted to apologize? It makes you look small.

Very cool "extra" freebie. And soooo many uses, in so many ways ;) Thankyou kindly :)

I for one think it is an absolutely perfect gift, totally free standing as asked for and is in theme with the season. As for apologies, pray tell where these "attempts" were made for I have not seen them. This particular freebie is a very useful one and can definitely be used in a number of different type of renders including victorian themed pictures, possibly a basement where the coal was shuttled into the furnace, or an english scene where coal was prevalent in use, or a gift under the tree for a naughty child. Ever wonder why a lump of coal is in stories regarding being good or bad children? Tis to teach those very children lessons about certain things, like proper behavior, among other things.

As far as I can tell Tilandra was the only 1 to make an effort to attempt. The rest probably deserve the freebie that got *wink* I guess the Ghost of Future Freebies only works in some cases

I hope everyone takes this freebie gift with the humour it was intended. It was not designed to offend, but with hopes to turn a previously ugly situation into something more fun, to lighten the holiday spirit.

But I did neglect to put a readme file in this zip (which i hope to correct soon), so if anyone is having problems finding it, it can be found in your "Props" folder in a folder called "Raw-Freebies Thank You & Merry Christmas Rawn

It's a Participating Artist over at Daz.
In a nutshell, someone who doesn't work for Daz, but is a poser artist, and has products that have been accepted there.

Heh, well okay then. Honestly, I was afraid to open the zip file, with all the winking, nudging, and the word RAW in the title. Anyone familiar with the standard webpage we usually give to people asking for warez in the Usenet newsgroups? I was expecting something like that. Silliness I can handle though, and jump right in the conga line with the elephant :)

I think this little surprise gift is a big mistake, considering the emotions that were aroused in the previous thread. In fact, I'm inclined to be sure those responsible for the gift don't receive any of my future business. Now the difficulty comes when there are no "credits" listed in the readme file. Except maybe RawArt.

"In fact, I'm inclined to be sure those responsible for the gift don't receive any of my future business. Ever stop to consider that maybe they don't want your money? I know they won't/can't say it for business reasons, but hell - I've no such scruples. ;) On the topic: nice pressie, though I'll be damned if I can find an immediate use for it. /P

RawArt ( ) posted Sat, 18 December 2004 at 12:22 PM

Bobbie Boucher I have no interest in whatever politics anyone has with daz, if that want to rant and complain that is their decision. Daz has treated me pretty well, so I personally dont have any problems with them. But my products are my products, if you cant see the humour in the gift, then I am sorry. I stated clearly that this was meant purely in funto make what was an ugly situation into something a bit lighter. But now I do take it personal that you want to rally people against buying my products. That is not cool. I work hard to provide the best quality products I can to anyone who enjoys my unique style. If you want to turn a situation that was intended as light humour back into something ugly, with an attemt to directly hurt my own business. That is entirely un-called for and in very bad form.

Rawn, don't listen to what Ron Knights aka Bobbie Boucher has to say. Best is to ignore him. Remember: don't feed the Troll!

RawArt ( ) posted Sat, 18 December 2004 at 12:34 PM

No worries Puntomaus I have no issues against this fellow. I can accept that he was acting out of some emotion, and probably didnt intend it as a personal attack against me. The fact is simply that this gift was designed for fun, and it seems many other people understand the fun of it. I do hope he lightens up though and starts to enjoy the season...I know I do :) Rawn

Bobbie_Boucher ( ) posted Sat, 18 December 2004 at 1:44 PM

Hah, so many people found an issue with the freebies, and so many negative emotions were generated. So much so that the thread was locked. Emotions had likely not even died to a dull roar before the next salvo, a "joke" arrives. Do you ever think of the consequences of your actions? Oh wait, there were really no "nay-sayers" in the last thread, it was all me with different names. You Poser merchants can't really afford to keep alienating your customers, then crying when someone decides to reward your negative attitude with a boycott.

RawArt ( ) posted Sat, 18 December 2004 at 1:58 PM

come on man, just enjoy the season, dont make things into a drama. Poser is a fun hobby Christmas is a fun season Just enjoy it

last year I got myself a great prezzie in r/t... a box of coal. ( hard candy ) made my day.

Argon18 ( ) posted Sat, 18 December 2004 at 3:10 PM

How is it "alienating your customers" when they are giving things away for free, don't you need to buy something to be considered a "customer?" It is what they said they wanted, a freebie that is stand alone and doesn't reqire anything to be bought for it, it does pay to be careful what you wish for since you might get it. I guess it's not only bankers that can be Scrooges, maybe lawyers make it even more contagious? I agree with SpiritFoxy, I think she hit the nail on the head "This particular freebie is a very useful one and can definitely be used in a number of different type of renders including victorian themed pictures, possibly a basement where the coal was shuttled into the furnace, or an english scene where coal was prevalent in use, or a gift under the tree for a naughty child. I suppose it takes some longer more repeatitions to learn than others

When you perceive something as an attack from someone, you can deal with it one of two ways. You can absorb it, and let it fester, or you can let it bounce off of you and ignore it. Please people, I'm asking again... lets leave all this stuff in the locked thread.

Gareee ( ) posted Sat, 18 December 2004 at 4:45 PM

Bobby, Ron, whatever.. I understand you are having really crappy personal problems... instead of spreading your ill will and unhappy sentiments with the community, why not instead take some of the joy and happiness that the people here are offering instead? People are trying to make you happy, in your time of dispair.. accept some happiness into your life, since it sounds like you really need some.

I love the bag of coal, I think it is a very neat gift, thank you very much for it, I have an english scene I have been working on that it will do very nicely for, if I ever have enough time to finish it smile

Bobbie_Boucher ( ) posted Sat, 18 December 2004 at 9:54 PM

Let's see if I can explain this in a way someone with an open mind might understand: 1.) The proper Christmas spirit is not shown if you only give the left shoe to someone who obviously needs both shoes. 2.) The proper Christmas spirit is not shown by insulting the recipient of the gift. Ever. 3.) If an artist sells his/her work at DAZ, Renderosity, or another web site, they represent that web site. If I buy from that web site, I am a customer. 4.) Someone who wants to make money from sales should never ever insult their customers, or potential customers. And they surely should not wHine if an insulted person threatens to boycott their products in the future. And you're sadly mistaken if you think I have the power to influence others to boycott you. 5.) I dare say most everyone in the forums uses aliases these days. It is only appropriate to accept those aliases on their own merit. If you do not agree, then start using your own name instead of an alias. Otherwise, that's enough of the consipiracy theories. 6.) I don't so much have a problem with the gifts as I do the very negative attitude that goes with them. 7.) There is never any justification for insulting someone. And don't make things worse by telling your victims they should enjoy the Christmas spirit. Stop and really think of what Christmas is all about. I don't see much evidence of that spirit in this thread.

Kendra ( ) posted Sat, 18 December 2004 at 10:24 PM

So Ron, what evidence of the "spirit of Christmas" do you find in someone complaining about a free gift?

They made an offer they didn't have to. Instead of saying "thanks", some chose to complain. If it were the Renderosity Merchant giveaway they wanted to complain about I'd have been pissed as well after working very long hours to create what I gave for free. Merchants have feelings and they have a right to be as pissed as you.

I'm afraid you can't demand that merchants kiss your tush or take one in the chops that they didn't deserve.

...... Kendra
