Now..I have to redo the Taxi lanes (Curves in Green and Blue). I made those in Wings3D, and I can not even texture them. That is all I need, then this Airport would be done today. Then I will have to make terrain.

Cool. But I don't think it will be the biggest Poser scene ever. I'm pretty sure that distinction belongs to Stonemason's City set he's working on now...

Dr.Geep. I was wondering if you are able to help me on those Curves (making em as primitive). They are driving me crazy. So I can texture em. Is it possible? Please..pretty please.

If you could email one of them to me, I could see if I can model one just like it that can be textured.

K...I am totally new to Wings3D..so do not laugh. lol

Helgard ( ) posted Thu, 23 December 2004 at 5:39 PM

Robo, after you have modelled it in Wings, you can UV map it in Wings, or you can export it as an object file. Then import that object file into UVMapper, the free version will do, and map it using Planar on the Y-axis. This will give you a top down veiw of the part. When you map it, do not select the "scale" tick box. Then export that template, and open that template in any arts or graphics program, and texture it like normal. I am sure Dr Geep will explain this better, with pictures, etc, but this may just get you started.

After I had problems inputing a texture. I went back into Wings3D, and looked at UVmapper. Struggled, and questioning myself, "Now how do you UVmap in Wings3D?" Making a mess. I even went into the new UVmapper Pro Demo. This version not able to save the Obj file after mapping. Have to register first. So, now trying to gather up $100 for it. $60 US, then convert to Canadian, then $15 money order which I am not sure they take yet. Will have to email them for that part. Reading the Pdf file (manual) on UVmapping in Wings3D.

There is a free version of UVMapper, called UV Mapper Classic. Not as powerful, but it can handle the basic stuff...

Yep, Robo, get the free version for now. It will work fine for what you want to do. The UVMapping in Wings is a bit more complicated than in UV Mapper.

Well, I finally did it. After using Geeps technique. Instead of using the ball. Many tries, I used a cylinder, and two blocks. I scaled the cylinder down to 10% (Y-Axix). Selected my areas in grouping, made a new prop. Deleted the cylinder, and then scaled the blocks to match the new prop ends, then to make one complete prop. Exported all, and then imported it. Grouped all, then export again, then used the old UVmapping (I have a back-up HD drive I had to put in computer to get file) to make a texture file, save obj in UVmapping. Made a texture really quick. Not the best. Because I have no time to adjust, only see the results and the pic above is the outcome. I am one happy camper now. Taking a rest for the next few days. Then will redo. Getting headache, and need to do family stuff. :-)

was this ever finished?? having an airport prop like that would be a plus in anyone's runtime...

Robo2010 ( ) posted Tue, 09 October 2007 at 4:55 AM

Yes, I did finish this, and I did make available as a freebie. I had to remove due to size on my website. To make room for other goodies. I can see what I can do in the next day or two uploading on site again for awhile. I have projects at the moment holding me up. I will let you know when it is up. But I will not make as a freebie on here. Because I will have to delete again, to make room.
