Subject: Always the same comment...

abmlober ( ) posted Sat, 25 December 2004 at 7:15 AM ยท edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 9:45 AM

I saw under many images always the same comment: "Wonderful scene and prentation! Brilliant fractal, design, light and lighteffects, textur and colors!"

Are all our images that similar?

Why not ask the person that posted the comment?

it's a general observation about the comments in the Renderosity fractal gallery. Despite the fact that most of what is posted here is average (how could it be otherwise?), most of the gushing comments make it sound as though nearly every image is a masterpiece. And the more comments someone hands out, somehow their artwork gets better--well they get more comments anyway. Those comments have to say something, so generally it's something generic like the above.

I noticed this also, one specific person, exactly (not almost exactly, but exactly) the same comment on so many images. I can only hope that he/she is not very good at English and has translated a single sentence to post on every image he/she finds interesting. (I always give benefit of the doubt, lol)

Fractals will always amaze me!

I have noticed this too and am also guilty of doing this. One reason is that I can't think of anything terribly original to say after seeing so many fractals each day. Another reason is that I often comment on fractals of newcomers for the purpose of giving encouragement. Can't think of anything to say but that the image is lovely, beautiful, nicely colored, nicely textured etc. I don't feel competent enough to leave constructive comments. Everyones tastes are so different. The commenting thing is somewhat of a pain, yet I still feel compelled to comment. Maybe I should just stop. 'jockc' is right---they are just generic comments. What suggestions would some of you come up with? Should we stop commenting on average images (whatever those are)? Now I feel I shouldn't make any comments at all!!! Marion

I have stopped posting because I have felt my images are not up to scratch, I comment when I have the time on images I like. If this is also upsetting people perhaps I should just stop looking too. Disillusioned.

I think Andreas is talking about a particular person. Their comments are exactly (and I mean EXACTLY) the same for every image. I think we all get stuck in ruts about what we say, mainly because we tend to notice certain things...for instance, I tend to notice color and shape more than anything else. It's just the way my brain works. It just seems strange that this one person keeps saying the very same thing that Andreas quotes under everyone's images. As I said, I just assume that this person has a lot of trouble with English and has written a comment that covers everything and translated it into English! (but I tend to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.)

Fractals will always amaze me!

People are sheep, just look at the whole V thing. One person starts doing it and pretty soon half the people on here are copying them. When you are getting so many comments from your clique that it takes you 'hours' to reciprocate, then this is the next logical evolution... Damn...This site has turned me into a pessimist... Matt. (I'm off again, this site does my head in if I spend more than a few days each month here).

lol Matt, they V even without looking at the piece, i am glad i ain't in the middle of this hilarious self-destruction of a fractal gallery, thats why i moved to a much more quieter gallery :-P and only upload 'junk' here ROFL

Hi guys and gals,

I did not want to discourage anyone... And I do not mind reading comments in German! I do not mind reading similar comments. I just wondered why there was someone just pasting a standard comment under quite a few images. I did not consider that this was because of missing abilities with English. And as always - perhaps I should have waited one more day before starting this thread...

The name of the person I assume y'all are talking about is a German name. A good friend of mine who works in Germany has a girlfriend with this name and it's fairly common. Maybe they don't speak English and have used Babelfish or something to come up with a comment that conveys their pleasure in viewing the image? Though, if that's so, it's about the best Babelfish translation I've ever seen, considering the gibberish it puts out whenever it gets confused - lol
My comments are pretty similar because of the few things that cause me to speak to the image in the first place - typically either textures(my favorite), depth of shading, image composition or a particularly nice flame. And, being a working stiff, I can only check out new stuff in a big chunk a few times a week. Or I'll pop up here when I've got a render going or a particular image has fought me to a standstill and I need to step away. Occasionally I comment on colors that really grab me, too. Encouragements can be pretty similar, too. I mean, there are only so many ways you can say "nice job", ya know? At least in English - lol
c-ya!

Agree whit Rick for a few points i look most of the image has a nice sharp render and the colorbalance is for me interresting, like also the touche of 3D depht feel and the total design so as border etc etc Is this all inside then its a real winner for me Think about this You can only give a comment after the big click on the tumb so enjoy that the tumb looks already so interresting that people take that step :-) How is that ? :-) I am in a good mood grinzz See you Arend

i know i have difficulties saying orginal things but i do not say what i don't mean, i think it safe to assume the same for others, or hopefully anyway. happy new year for tommorrow :)

after a while my mind is failing me on comments but I feel I need to leave one to show I was there. even if it some one I dont know I like to show I was there and took time to look so I comment too even if it a copy and paste comment. Hope no one is takeing back at this but it do show my feelings of the work and know the person did a lot of work on the image. I do not copy and paste too much just when I super tried and should have gone to bed lol. I got caught red handed of a high crime here guess you going to put me in jail. even if it bad art I try to leave a comment to make that person feel better. I did a lot of bad art in the past too and that is what people did for me. I think I got better in two years. So those post the same comments just means they can not think of nothing new to say, but just to show they looked at your image and liked it; plus to show they was there and bought a t-shrit

what you see is not what you know; it in your face
