This is awesome. And brilliant. I was happy just playing with my Millennium Teens, but now I need to start looking for texture packs to buy. :)

AntoniaTiger ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 4:36 PM

This is a bold move, no doubt about that. I'm not sure my system is up to using the full-resolution versions, but I have the V3RR and M3RR anyway. Since they're free, I might as well get them. But how much will it cost to get away from NVITWAS? How much are DAZ making from the basic figure, and how much from extras?

nomuse ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 4:59 PM

This worked well for DAZ in my case...I already had some stuff in my shopping cart waiting for me to make up my mind. Now I have!

dlk30341 ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 5:12 PM

Can't wait to get my vouchers....I can buy some items I've been putting off for a long time :).....keeps checking account and e-mail :)

ArtyMotion ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 5:20 PM

If they gave everything away free, someone in this forum would have some complaint about it. Yeah ... "It's costing me a fortune in time and money to download all this stuff." ;-)

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 5:27 PM

I checked my accounts page and I have no vouchers even though I paid for the figures. There's supposed to be a newsletter telling us how we are going to be compensated.

jelisa ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 5:58 PM

Attached Link: Read here

Steve Kondris has posted some information on how to receive the vouchers and what to do if you've purchased V3, M3, or the V3 Digital Beauty Design Kit, standard or pro within the last 30 days.

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 6:02 PM

So if I paid $40 for the M3 upgrade, I would get a $10 voucher while newbies are getting it free?

jelisa ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 6:10 PM

The upgrade was $29.95 (or $23.95 if you got it during the initial introduction). Don't you think you've gotten $19.95 of worth out of her during the time you've had her?

Bobbie_Boucher ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 6:20 PM

Looks good to me.

SamTherapy ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 7:07 PM

"Looks good to me." Yup. If you bought the full versions, you get $20 back per purchase. I've made more than that from V3 in the past year. Not that much more, Mr Taxman, so get off me case. :D

If you dig around, you'll find what looks like a special deal on Mike 3's morph packs. Click on it, and you're told no such item exists. Maybe DAZ still has some more suprises for us?

randym77 ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 7:41 PM
Online Now!

They're in the store now. Bundles on the morph packs. At very good prices, I must say.

linkdink ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 9:11 PM

Very interesting. Daz is treating their proprietary figures the way other software companies treated their products, like Windows Media or RealPlayer or the Netscape browser or.... many others. Lots of software given away to create a market for other software that runs on that platform. V3/M3, its just software, and everything created for them is just running on a platform. Cool move.

This looks better and better. Interesting that DAZ didn't mention this wonderful sale in their big announcement. No complaints, just curious.

Hey, I already have this stuff, but it's surely great news for those who don't.

You add this to DAZ|Studio, and I'm starting to see real evidence of the strategy DAZ has probably had for quite awhile. It just took them awhile to start getting it out to us.

Ok..now that I have M3 Base. I realize now, he his naked. I do not have any outfits or textures to hold me up. Any free M3 cloths and textures out there?

randym77 ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 10:22 PM
Online Now!

There are some free textures, and free clothes. Search free stuff. I recommend Rapheal, by kirisute. (Note the spelling - it's Rapheal, not Raphael.) A complete character, with clothes and props!

There's also the Pro Club, at PoserPros. It's not free, but it's cheap - $2.49 per item, no membership fee required. There's some nice clothing and textures there.

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 10:45 PM

robo... look in the freestuff here for textures, i recommend the roddick texture

AntoniaTiger "But how much will it cost to get away from NVITWAS" Funny you should mention that. The 25th Xmas freebie in the DAZ forums was a NVIATWAS kit. LOL XENOPHONZ Will V4 be free? slowly slips into a trance I see .. in the near future. . .. no V4 . . no M4 .. I see.. A Beast! A freakish uni-figure with extreme morphs to make all manner of fantasy humanoid monsters, from aliens to werewolves. . . and what could be David SR1, and some python scripts who's purpose I can't fathom yet. slips out of the trance and wonders what just happened

"What - still no Mimic-Ready Vagina!?" Ah, Pen you want it to talk to ya already? :-) PapaBlueMarlin, look on the bottom of your accounts page

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

randym77: "(And I'm not a chap!)" These "handles" do lead to gender assumptions don't they? I've had to wrap my head around three or four sex changes here when the facts were revealed--an amusing side effect of forum life.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Thu, 06 January 2005 at 4:34 AM

He could still be male, but not a "chap". Where I'm from (Montana), "dude" is a slur, not a compliment... and it is possible that chap is just as insulting in other parts of the world.

lmckenzie ( ) posted Thu, 06 January 2005 at 5:27 AM

"He could still be male, but not a "chap"." Yes, I considered that possibility, calculated the theoretical per-centages based on the historic distribution of British culture vs. the geographic/ethnic distribution of the Renderosity membership and factored in the average probability of offense being taken at an unintentional sub-cultural faux pas as opposed to the natural human tendency to correct mistaken gender assumptions and concluded that the odds were, to a statistically significant degree, in favor of gender dysmorphia rather than a cross-cultural vernacular disconnect. Yes, I took a guess, a wild fling and damn the consequences. It's a new year, time to live dangerously. Look at me ma, top a' the world! Do they really still favor the now archaic usage of "dude" in Big Sky Country and not the now accepted "Seasonal Urban Tourist" designation? Even here in the land time forgot (aka Bushland), dude has achieved it's true status as the legitimate successor to "guy" and is even edging out "good old boy" (OK, not really, GOB still rules). Rock on :-)

In case you missed it, you can now get both morph packages for Vicky 3 & Mike 3 for $42.46.

Worked ok here mac -- with 56K dialup.

Bobbie_Boucher ( ) posted Thu, 06 January 2005 at 3:00 PM

I totally sympathize with those of you still on Dialup. I went back to a SLOW dialup about a couple years ago. It was the longest 6 months I ever spent. Now I'm on a DSL, for awhile at least.

Nance ( ) posted Thu, 06 January 2005 at 3:06 PM

sorry, meant "Chap" not mac, no wait... "Dude"

lmckenzie ( ) posted Thu, 06 January 2005 at 3:18 PM

Dude, the first DL was shy a meg or so, Bummer! Second time worked, at least the installer started up, haven't actually installed her yet. Fortunately with a little patience, 56K works fine unless you're trying to DL some bitchin' pornos--double bummer. Oh well, got my Vick so I'm ready to thrash. L8r Dudez.
