Hi All, I recently got Vicky 3 and tried for the first time today to put her into Bryce 5. It worked okay except that her eyebrows were huge and weren't texture mapped. The rest of her looked all right, but still not as good as in Poser. I have read tutorials on this before, but I can't find any that discuss Vicky 3 to Bryce 5. They are all for older versions of both. Is the procedure the same as it was for older versions where you have to apply all of the textures in Bryce or is there an easier way to do it? If there is a tutorial somewhere on the web that talks about the most recent versions I would appreciate a link. I know that this topic has been discussed before so I apologize in advance. I just can't seem to find any of the old references I saw a long time before I had Vicky 3. Thanks, Josh

in theory you can open the pz3 with daz studio [available at das for free] then export the obj from there, then another thing from daz [i thought it was a program, now i think it just replaces the obj reader for bryce, dunno, never done it this way.] then import the obj into bryce and the textures will be fine, though you may still have to fix the transparency. the way i do it is pretty much like you've read in the tut's. hide the eyebrows. use the body_transparency map for the eyelashes. set the lowest numbered eye piece [for each eye there are 4 parts] to the first glass mat in the installed library. everything else is just like tut's i think. xenix101 [still dodging the shift key] [i might do a quick tut, if you need, just ask]

The fastest long way I know. While importing your figure into Bryce, you will be prompted to locate the textures, you only have to locate the first texture in a directory, Bryce will check this directory during this import for the other textures. Transparency maps and bump maps are not exported from Poser so Bryce will not load them, well have to do that ourselves. After the figure is loaded into Bryce, you may want to go into solo mode to make selecting Vickies parts easier. Using Ctrl-click (gives a dropdown of the objects under the pointer) and shift-click (adds the selected object to the current selection), select all of Vickies parts that will have her body texture. (Figure_1_1,2,3,4,,25,26,27,28,29,30,31,32) Change the family for these parts to make adjustments easier later. With the Body family selected open the material editor and adjust the texture to your liking. (I assume you have a favorite texture map based skin MAT. if not, see below.) optional There are some parts we might want to give a different texture to, depending on the scene. Vickies pubic hair is Figure_1_3, select it and open the material editor. Using the transparency map you used in Poser set up the material for a hair material. (see below) The nipples are Figure_1_25, you may want to increase their ambience and bump to give them a nipplier look. The fingernails and toenails are Figure_1_29,32 respectively. Maybe you should decrease their bump and paint them. (If youre rendering her hand close-up.) Now select the head parts. (Figure1_5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16) And set them up in the material editor. (see below) The head and body should have the same settings except for the bump, which should be lower on the head due to the size of the texture image. Dont forget to change their family. optional The head is full of parts you may want to texture individually, Ill just list them. The eyebrows (blah_blah_13) should be deleted or hidden. The lips (7), should have the bump increased for sure, and possibly the ambience as well, to give a moister look. The eyelashes (12), need to have the transparency set (see below). If the head will be visible enough for it to matter, I change the diffuse and ambient color to match the hair Ill be using. There are a bunch of parts for the inner mouth also. (really wrong statement excluded.) The eye parts are: whites (18,22), irises (20,24), pupils (19,23) and the cornea (17,21) which should be given the first glass texture in the installed folder (Glass Bubble #1). Every thing else is hair or other props that were imported with Vickie. Each Poser figure will have a unique mesh name, props are numbered with their parent figure. The meshes are imported by material name in Poser, so be careful if two different objects have the same material name in Poser. I.e. default. based on personal use, your mileage may vary.

*sorry about the picture size* Your Material setting may differ, these are meant only as examples. Head and body texture maps were Christmas freebies from Amber Jordan (shesa). Thank you shesa. The hair is SassyHair2 from DAZ.

xenic101, you're thinking about the Turbo Importer for Bryce which updates the Bryce OBJ Importer plugin. When you export the OBJ from DAZ Studio, it adds extra information to the MTL file so that when imported into Bryce with the Turbo Importer installed, the bump map settings are correct, transparency maps are applied, etc.
