Hello Community,
any experiences already?

Thank you, greetings, Fritz

what are millenium deformers? ::::: Opera :::::

fritz01 ( ) posted Fri, 07 January 2005 at 4:19 AM

@Opera

Sorry, I meant the "Millennium Dynamic Deformers". Please excuse also my poor English, I am living in Germany.
The "Millennium Dynamic Deformers" I use for some months mainly for the adaptation (conforming) of clothes and I am mostly content thereby. Now I am interested in general experiences with "Pose Tools" and how the Tools co-operate with the Dynamic Deformers.

Millennium Dynamic Deformers look here:

Fritz

danke schoen Fritz. I don't have feedback for you, schade, because I have not used them, but I am checking them out now. Your English is great! ::::: Opera :::::

operaguy ( ) posted Fri, 07 January 2005 at 4:34 AM

Those two items are very interesting. Fritz, are you asking for reaction because you don't have them and are thinking of getting them? Or do you have one or the other? I get the feeling you want to ask...if you deform a model extensively and save it using the pose tools, does the deformation "take?" Well...I certainly want to know the answer to that myself! Here is my question to anyone. How does the deformer do in an attempt to fix the problems with the Mill. figures' shoulder/collar/upper arm? Can their arms be made to 'deform' out to normal appearance and so that the upper arm no long 'bows' in, unnaturally? ::::: Opera :::::

catlin_mc ( ) posted Fri, 07 January 2005 at 11:46 AM

I don't have the deformers but I got the Pose Tools a couple of days ago and so far I have not been able to use it 'cos it keeps giving an error message. I installed the patch for WinXP after I installed the Pose, but it didn't seem to do anything. I've now asked DAZ for a refund 'cos I can't be annoyed with it any more. If anyone else had got it and overcome this problem I'd really like to hear about it. Catlin

I was wondering whether to get the Pose Tools m'self, and so far I've only seen one negative and no positives. Not looking good for them!

A couple of people who have bought it over at the Daz Forum, don't have an answer after a week. Sounds a bit strange to me. Normally you can find others thoughts on a product, good or bad, but nothing?

I also question a product with that kind of price that you can do in poser, click the (+)sign and or use MPE3 for free.

operaguy quote "How does the deformer do in an attempt to fix the problems with the Mill. figures' shoulder/collar/upper arm? Can their arms be made to 'deform' out to normal appearance and so that the upper arm no long 'bows' in, unnaturally?"

What figure and what pose? I can put an image together real quick if you like. The mil Deformers work on most figures that are grouped like vic. edited for spelling, I hope.

beryld, i am simply referring to the "inward curving upper arm" that all the Mil. figures have. Can you turn her into a person with a normal upper arm/shoulder?

please see an image of vickie i made in the first post in the above thread. see how her inside elbow is like a bent straw...very unnatural...and also her upper arm bows IN. That is very wrong. If you get a vicky going you will see her upper arms are always like that. Can the deformer be used to make these two features more natural? Thanks for your help. ::::: OPera :::::

I remember that thread now. No, Mil deformers won't fix that, sorry. You still need to create your own morphs. You can fix that kind of stuff in Shade, LOL. I know, not much help.

I bought the PoseTools. I installed them and then I installed the XP PoseTool Patch. You also have to start Poser and then choose FilePython and then navigate to the installer file that they tell you in the Help file. After that you have to select WindowsPython Script (I think these are the right names. I've only used Python a few times and I'm writing this from memory.) When the Python window shows up, you will have a button that says PCT (I think.) I clicked on that and got a different window of buttons that were for PCT. There was one that was for Help or manual or something that made me think of reference, so I clicked it. There was some screen activity and then my computer made that sound like it does when SP2 blocks content, and Pose Tools said it had installed the manual and it was now minimized. But there was nothing minimized. I had my Poser window and an internet explorer window that displayed my c drive. I tried going back and I would see a flash of the PoseTool manual screen, and that "blocked" sound. (I saw the flash of the manual page during the screen activity too.)I gave up after a few times. I accidentally stumbled across the manual files and tried to run them that way. Same problem. It also said something about registering and entering some code on one of the screens too, but I looked at the help file that DAZ provides and the letters they sent and I found no code. I then clicked on the link to send for tech support. I sent a letter much like this. But I never heard anything back. Maybe he never got the email, I don't know. But I don't give up easily. The next day I decided to run the xp patch again. After that I started up poser 5 and the posetools and they worked. I could get to the help file. Windows told me it had blocked content which I had to respond to, but the screen didn't flash and go away anymore. I think there are two installs going on here. The file you download from DAZ just installs the files to your computer. When you run with FilePython and navigate to that installer, it installs the Python files. That must be when your suppose to run the XP PoseTools updater. Anyway, it worked for me. But I haven't had a chance to do much else with them.

I am exhausted just reading that install saga. ::::: Opera :::::

fritz01 ( ) posted Sat, 08 January 2005 at 12:53 AM

Thank you for the answers. I think it is better to wait for a while, instead to buy the "Pose Tools" at once.

@Opera
I have got the Millennium Dynamic Deformers since several month and have used them to conform / fix clothes on before deformed figures.
As beryld wrote already, the MDD are not useful to fix the shoulder area of V3.

@MeInOhio
It would be nice to read more of your experiences, when you have tested the program.

Fritz

I also got a response to my tech request. Just wanted to let you know.

MeInOhio ( ) posted Sat, 08 January 2005 at 3:10 PM

Well, I thought mine was fixed, but it does the same thing today. The program itself seems to function all right. But I can't view the manual. I think SP2 is protecting me from the content. I see the manual screen flash by and then it takes me to an Internet explorer window that displays my c:drive. I can try to back up and the same thing happens. The manual flashes by and I'm back at my c drive. Usually windows says that it's blocking content and it pops up a warning window. This one doesn't seem to pause long enough to give you a chance to say it's okay you want to view the content. Anybody have any ideads?

Hello MeInOhio, Cathlin, and everybody else of course, I've been away for a few days, which is why I am so late with coming back to Renderosity. Sorry about that. I'm almost sure I answered MeInOhio's question about HOW to apply the WinXP SR2 patch? At least, the words in MeInOhio's last message here are almost identical to those in the mail I received. I didn't get any feedback on my answer, so I suppose you're OK now? And Cathlin, of course I'm really sorry you felt it necessary to give the POSETools back. Not because you gave them back, but because you had so much needless bother. And we Poser users all know how frustrating that kind of bother can be! From what I am able to get from your words, it seems to me you installed to an external Runtime library- and then, nothing will work, ever. I absolutely understand this is very disconcerting, but there is nothing I can do about it, since I didn't write the DAZ Installer. By the way, I have mentioned the importance of installing to your real Runtime in POSETools's and ZOOMTools's FAQ (see attached link). If you would have mailed me, you would have had an answer back in 24 hours. Anyway, if you like, you can check the POSETools/ ZOOMTools pages at the attached link for FAQS and downloads and so on. If you have a suggestion to make for points I could add to the FAQ there, please let me know, I would love to share them with other users! Cheers, Paul Christiaan

From what I've seen of people's experiences with these products, and pcbos2's responses, I'll pass.

catlin_mc ( ) posted Tue, 18 January 2005 at 12:34 PM

I'll give the installer one more go and if it works I'll tell DAZ to forget my refund, if it doesn't then I'll give it back. Thanks for the advice Paul. 8) Catlin

Hi Catlin- and everybody else interested, naturally- this is to tell you that you can find update 1.15 for both the POSETools and the ZOOMTools on my site, as of yesterday. This update should take care of all your installer troubles, does a few other things as well, and also adds some extra's for those who speak another language than English. Also, I finally found the reason for this strange behavior of the Manual some user were talking about- in fact, I installed Win XP SR2, that bug of bugs, for that one reason. Got that licked too, so it might just be worth your while to check the update out. Cheers, Paul Christiaan

Paul, should I install using the DAZ installer then add the WinXP update, then your 1.5 update?
And do I reinstall the DAZ installer after I've installed the WinXP update??
I may not be fast at times but I'm willing to stick at it if there's a chance of success. 8)

Hello Catlin,

Good news- Update 1.15 (1.5 will have to wait a bit :-) makes it UNNECESSARY to use the WinXP Patch!
The best way to use the updater is this (also described on the download page):

  1. REINSTALL with the original DAZ Installer.
    PLEASE NOTE:
please install to your REAL Poser Installation:
if your Poser. exe "lives" in, say,
    "C:/Whatever/Python5",

you should also install to
" C:/Whatever/Python5"
and UNZIP the updater to that place as well

These two things are the most important to remember - the rest should be automatic.

  1. After ReInstalling with the DAZ Installer, Run the new Updater as described on the download page.

  2. To make 100% sure: now EXIT Poser

  1. restart Poser, run the PoseTools Installer (which is now version 1.15) to have the whole bit checked - including disc structure

(as you know, you find the Installer in folder Runtime:Python:PCB-Tools:INSTALL PoseTool)

Thats it- the Tools are now in 1.15, with a lot of improvements.

By the way: Update 1.16 is coming, which will add extras for work with the Material Room

OK?

Cheers,

Paul Christiaan
