Subject: poser to A:M

Does anyone know of a plugin / addon that allows one to either create an Animation:Master file from Poser or import a Poser file from Animation:Master. I tried converting a poser file to autodesk format and importing it to A:M but it came out looking like a jumble of splines. any help appreciated Thanks veg

Only way I've found is to make it an object. They used to have a free obj export importer but don't know where to find it now. Might go to the AM ftp, you can get there from the updates page and just look through to see if they still have it. No coffee yet so if this seems jumbled it's because I can't see yet. 8^) Marque

AM does a good job of importing obj for static props, but a poor job for importing obj for the purpose of character animation. Too many 'decisions' have to be made in the poly to spline process and computers just aren't good at that, not to mention the bones won't import/export at all. However, Poser and AM can both use bvh. Don't know if that could be of any help for you.

...actually, it could be interesting to create an animation in AM, with it's terrific animation toolset, and have it spit out a bvh for use in Poser. I don't know if AM can 'create' bvh files, though.

Don't remember off hand and don't have it installed right now. I know that AM seems to handle clothing and hair better. Marque

AM has excellent hair in the latest version. I think they're still working on 'clothes', though.

They've been doing cloth since the 2003 release for sure, and I think even the 2002 release. Marque

Yea, but it needs a lotta work. I should have clarified that. Sorry. I haven't checked the forum in several weeks, but I believe better cloth is at the top of their to-do list, if I remember right.

I'm using 2004. Haven't upgraded yet because, frankly, I don't know what the hell the upgrade adds :) A couple people asked in the forum, but nobody gave a serious answer, which I found odd. I can't really complain, though. AM upgrades are probably the best buy in the cg world.
