THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Regular v Super rendering quality - worth it?

Is there a worthwile difference between Regular and Super on rendering quality?

Truth has no value without backing by unfounded belief.

Aye, Higher AA samples always produce a more accurate image. If you are rendering small, such as to screen size, then you may not notice. But the biggest difference you'll see on small renders is when using photo-textures. These are always cleaner and less grainy when using higher AA settings. Do a Search here in the forums, Agent Smith has some excellent screen shots of this process in action.

Take a cube or square 2d face and stretch it to a long rectangle. Apply a plaid pattern to it then have one end near the camera and the other end going into the distance away from the camera. You'll see the difference. Otherwise you will only see a difference in fine patterns like that, if you don't have anything like that or fine wire meshes, etc...don't bother with it.

do it ONLY if you selling an image..and want a print..or even if you selling a tiff file... BUT..ONLY if you think there will be a difference..

Also if you are rendering an animation, super quality will reduce the amount of flicker you get, but it will take a long time. Cheers. Pedrith :)
