Subject: free utility to collect image files when creating an obj export

I have a utility that reads the mtl file created when you export to an obj file. The utility reads the mtl file and copies all image files to the same folder. When importing an obj file to Bryce it will find all the textures. download from www.angelfire.com/wy2/graylord

Sounds like a useful utility to have. I'm dn as I write, will try it out, thanks Mark! BTW, did you know that 2 of your web page images are not downloading? the one to the right of "Mark's Graphic Page" Properties: http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/graylord/af_logo_156.gif

and the counter at the buttom, just above the screensaver link: properties: http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/graylord/index_files/Count.jpg P.S. To ask: Does this utility only work on .mtl files created in Poser?

Pakled, I dont understand why so many people have this problem. It might be easier to learn by example. If you have Poser, take a look at one of their character templates then study one of the characters maps. Its the same type of template that UVMapper outputs. Once you apply the UV coordinates in UVMapper to the model, you then save both the model (with the UV coordinates applied) and the template (shows the layout of the UV coordinates) to your HD and bring it into your editing program and paint inside the template guidelines. As the mermaid painted map shows, you don't even have to be exactly on the guide lines (see her hands and tail) Hope the above image helps.

Sorry for the high compression and poor quality of the image.

Stephen, try again. I haven't installed it yet but I got a comlete zip and I've read the doc file within.

I think I can tell you. I haven't tried it yet (should try tonight), but the problem is most of the tutorials stop at 'now go get your favorite paint program and fill in the textures' (and the problem has been, I thought that the .obj was somehow the thing that got 'painted'. Now that I know there's a template that gets painted, maybe I'll get it at last..;) We shall see..if it works, my next post in the galleries will be exceedingly lame, but highly satisfying..;) thanks for the material, it's been duly downloaded and cataloged..;)
