Subject: I received an interesting call from Curious Labs...

ArtyMotion ( ) posted Sun, 30 January 2005 at 4:22 PM

I know! THey've skipped P6 and 7, and are moving up to P8. This version will have models that automatically know how to dress and undress themselves, walk, talk, and make whoopee. That about covers every possible form of Poser art I can think of. 8-)

This version will have models that automatically know how to dress and undress themselves, walk, talk, and make whoopee Does that mean they're skipping the "make art" button and going directly to the "make sims" button?

If it's any way commercial this whole thread should be moved to the product showcase forum ;P please note the wink and poked out tongue before throwing me through that window

Maybe it has nothing to do with poser. Maybe and this is a big MAYBE, they decided to actually answer thier emails. I know, very far fetched but maybe.

Curious Labs has won the election -- they've been voted in as the new government of Iraq!

No, no.....that's not it. That incorrect thread a couple of weeks ago about P6 being advertised for release in March....that incorrect thread was actually correct.

DAZ and Curious Labs are going to merge.

Renderosity and Poserpros are going to merge.

Curious Labs has purchased the rights to Bryce from DAZ.

DAZ has purchased the rights to Poser from Curious Labs.

Corel has bought both Curious Labs and DAZ.

XENOPHONZ ( ) posted Mon, 31 January 2005 at 10:52 AM

Oh, yeah.......Adobe has purchased the rights to Poser: and Poser will now cost $1500.00 per copy!

Argon18 ( ) posted Mon, 31 January 2005 at 10:59 AM

No that only covers the more plausible theories, but doesn't really fit the definition of "cool things" does it? Releasing P6 in March would be fairly cool depending on what it has in it and whether or not it has all the bugs worked out (or at least the majority of them) the others are just corporate musical chairs for the benefit of the stockholders not the company or the products which isn't cool at all.

XENO ... better Adobe than Discreet (owners of 3DSMAX) .. in the latter case the price would jump to $3995, and use a software copy protection scheme that works when it wants to. 8-)

XENOPHONZ ( ) posted Mon, 31 January 2005 at 11:29 AM

OK.....let's try this one: Curious Labs has taken a hint from DAZ...... ........Poser 5, just like DAZ Studio and V3, will be given away for free! Curious Labs will now make all of its money by becoming a content provider.

ynsaen ( ) posted Mon, 31 January 2005 at 11:42 AM

Nope. It's going to be that curious labs is buying poser pros AND is giving away poser 5 for free while charging 350 for Poser 6, which was released last week while we all slept and sold out instantly....

I visited the CuriousLabs web site, and there was no indication of anything new. Maybe they're waiting till closing time to release any news.

jjsemp ( ) posted Mon, 31 January 2005 at 8:10 PM

They're just trying to make us very curious. Then they can take our curiosity back to their labs and study it. Hence the company name. -jjsemp

Geez...you folks are a very busy bunch! (I like it!) Okay, first...I don't follow the traditional work hours. I pretty much work most of the time. Also, we're dealing with California time, where Curious Labs is based. Anyway, sorry for the delay in getting back with everyone. I just got off the phone with Curious Labs, again. They apologized to me and everyone in here for the delay. Unfortunately, it will be tomorrow before they can get me the details. They wanted to make sure everything was in order, before we get the scoop. That said, I want to personally apologize to everybody for the delay. I'll be back tomorrow just as soon as possible. Thanks for your kind understanding and patience. Best regards, Lillian

breaks into a rendition of a song from the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer There's always tomorrow for dreams to come true, tomorrow is not far away.....

Ahhh but the sad part is that tomorrow never comes, since by the time it gets here it becomes today.
