Hello everyone, I hope this is the proper forum for this. Im at the end of my rope. Ive been working with the Font Creater 5.0 all day, and the help me simply is horrible. I cant imagine paying for this product after the 30 day evaluation period is up, ive never seen such primitive and incomplete instructions in any program ive ever tried :( There is an import picture feature that I can only assume has something to do with making custom dingbats? Ive spent almost an hour googling everything I can think of: making custom dingbats how do I make custom dingbats? creating dingbats? custom dingbats how to make custom dingbats how to make custom dingbats? make custom dingbats make custom dingbats? and on and on and on and on. I can find no tutorials in all of the world wide web. Ive a small simple black and white picture and I want to make a small simple dingbat font out of it. Can anyone please please help me? Thanks for reading, Logan

I don't know if this will help you, but you can check it out and see.

Font Creator is the best solution I've found. Have you tried asking questions in the forums? I still haven't managed to create a complete font, but that's just because I'm lazy. Creating a simple custom dingbat font is incredibly easy, and I haven't read a lot of the documentation. I really don't know where you're stuck, so I can't give you any advice except once again to check the High-Logic forums.

I have managed to import the picture into an existing dingbat font and scale it, so thats done fortunately, but it was more accidental than anything and Im unsure if I can duplicate the feat. I googled around and I do agree Font Creator seems to be one of the best options for this. Looking at the user manual.pdf it appears there is quite a bit available to learn in it, I just found myself frustrated with not being able to successfully use search and index for things like finding/adjusting the dingbat dimensions ("background" size), simple paint or pixel editing of existing dings if thats possible, etc etc. Ill spend some more time with the manual and give the forums a shot before the evaluation runs out. Thanks Logan

I gather from your searches you want to make a 'dingbat' Style font??

If your making pictorial dingbats the easiest way is to create a black image on a white background in the graphics program of your choice.

Copy it.

Go to font creator.
Double click the letter of the alphabet you want to assign it to and then paste.

It comes into the font as a 'whole'.

Double click that 'Whole' image and you will activate the points for manipulation.
