Hello,

I first must apologize if this is posted elsewhere but I wasnt able to find this here nor anywhere else on the web, throughout numerous searches. I have a full version of Poser 5 that a friend was going to get rid of and have played around with the default characters and used (I think they were BHV files) for animation. But I keep reading how easy it is to do from scratch, and how simple and intuitive Poser is but I am at a loss. I am one of those people that overthink things and never see that there was a lot easier way to do something after being frustrated for a long time.
In short I was wondering if anyone knows of links, e books, etc available for me to read and try out. I have seen some tut's that always say basic, but because of it being so intuitive they leave out the parts I am missing.

I'm very new to Poser 5 (Poser anything). I've found the easiest way to learn Poser is to read all the comments in this forum (well at least the last couple of months). Look at the Poser and VUE galleries for things that can be done with Poser. Then start with Judy, (I selected Judy instead of Don because if you want to adjust all his stuff, you will need a dictionary-unless you are into physical fitness or a medical student) go into the face room and just begin changing stuff, make the face younger, older, more female, less female, more or less European, African, Oriental, etc. Then click on the Actions' button Apply Shape Only (don't click on the Apply to Figure button-you can do that button later after you get your feet wet). Don't even try animation yet-Just work with the two rooms Pose and Face for a few days to get the kinks out-you will definitely know what I mean by kinks in a few hours. Plutom

Hello, Thank you all for your replies, I will follow what you have suggested. As far as it being a "warez" copy, oh no, no, no. He is very big into doing all things visual from painting to especially lately digital. He works as a software tester and gets a lot of thing beta, etc, but this was store bought. One of the people he works with was using it in conjunction with a project and it peaked his interest. He buys a lot of software, some of it never gets used, or opened for that fact. He has Maya, which I dont know the version, but I dont believe it has made it off a bookshelf nor opened. This version of poser was going to be donated to his sisters church rummage sale but I seen it in a box and asked (never hurts to ask). Only problem is I have the box and the hard case but no manuals, nor any good leads until now to tutorials. Anyways I have been back and forth to this site over the past few months and it has intrigued me. I just became a member a little while ago and have mainly stayed a "lurker", admiring the images, be they digital, or photos. etc and the first mailing I received in email was of the passing of Chuck Seibuhr. I did not recognize the name but after viewing some of his work, I knew who he was. Was a sad day. I am mainly a Photoshop guy, and may find the intestinal fortitude to submit something for review and critique, but this request may just be my only forray from the shadows until the nerve is achieved.LOL. That much I dont know, I haven't asked him for is as I have been playing around with it and havent put any real effort into it as such. He may have it still. I was just saying that when I got it there was a slightly tattered box with a cd and some blow in cards but thats it. I may have to bother him to look, he has a ton of boxed and unboxed crap in his office at home so it may be there or at his work. But as to your allurance of it being pirated software, no. I happen to be lucky enough to know someone that blows wads of cash on high priced software and when he tires of it, he asks me if I want it (or I ask him) usually because he has something "new" that has piqued his interest. Most of the stuff I do is mainly splash screen and other such items for companies and government entities so most of the things I need for work etc are company purchased, but for home use or to just play with I can usually find low end things at Ollies Bargain Outlet(dont know if that is just a US east coast store chain or not)or high endthings from single, overpaid friends that have a low attention span. But as much as I like the thought of the romance and intrigue associated with pirates and stolen booty, I am not one, as it could be detrimental to the day job and I quite frankly usually dont have the time to try and track down the warez, crackz, gamez, and anything else with a Z at the end.
