~sigh~ I really don't know what goes through those morons minds when they do things like this...are they that bored? It's really sad to see behavior like this...unfortunately it seems to only esculate from there.

great shot! i guess they got nothing better to do?

JordyArt ( ) posted Fri, 04 March 2005 at 1:16 PM

ok, I'm not defending them, coz it ain't right, but they're possibly filling a need that is much older than our intelligent minds comprehend, and that's one of marking their territory... every animal does it, it's natural. As for the "Ban Council Tax" bit, well, they're using a channel that has been developed very effectively by the media, and obviously works - if the comment wasn't there, we wouldn't be looking at a sign in Hertfordshire, would we? Albeit the wrong way to portray their feelings, I agree with the sentiment completely, and let's face it - they've actually done something about demonstrating their feelings instead of sitting on their hands and accepting fate. Add to that, it may actually make someone on the council realise what an ugly flipping sign and board that is and get a decent one put in it's place. (",)

This is disturbing to me in that I moved hours away from the city my children were born in because of the increased gang activity. Anything not moving was tagged. It's unusual to see a tag in such a rural setting. Graffiti is just plain ugly. Kids were bored 30 years ago too but I don't remember anyone doing things like this.

Wackie, I remember tagging and a change in graffiti starting like this about 20 years ago when I was 16/17 - poignant in my memory because of some graffiti on a railway bridge taking the mickey out of a girl I knew then. Our area isn't quite rural, but it's not heavily urban, and it still happened a lot. Social issues that stick in my mind related to it? American style "Guardian Angels" and how they were going to be set up to patrol railways in the UK, and the negative reception the idea received from police & public.... Michael Jackson's 'BAD' album.... Joy Riders starting to actually steal cars and not race their own.... often with "I'm Stolen. Chase Me" scrawled on the back for the police.... (",)
