Virtual sewing for virtual people. ;-) I think it was you Lyrra that mentioned if you can sew, you can use Clothing Creator? Well I can sew up a real storm but I sure can't model worth diddely! This plug-in totally amazed me and it is fun! Hardest thing for me personally (is and) was the cloth room, keeping her from playing "Gypsy Rose Lee" with that top. ;-)
randym77 sure wish you lived by me, perhaps we could trade skills? You could teach me how to model and I could teach you sewing, which secret Aunt Sophie tailoring tips. ;-) I don't have the expertise of course to answer your question you posed to Lyrra - but the little modeling I did try seemed to be very time consuming. Any obj you make, and you do make an obj with this plug-in, can be turned into conforming clothes. Marque - yahoo phobia? Curious I am not doing anything with yahoo.
the skillset most useful for clothing creator: the ability to draw paperdoll outfits. I kid you not. you have to make the front and back of the thing, as well as the front and back depth of it according to very precise isntructions. the widget comes with excellent instrucitonal material. I found that a vector drawing package (coreldraw) really helped to get a sharp 1 pixel line in the 2 colors needed for the outline. I didnt bother with interior texture for creaiton, as thats easy to make later. (since the uvmapping matches your template...really) You should be able to do fine in any image editing program that can save out GIF files with transparancy options then you follow the instructions and a clothing item happens. Just like that ..poof! Theres a bit of backing and forthing to get the front and back to weld together but Phil explains that quite clearly. Then you have an item ready for the cloth room If you want to make it into a conforming object, then you need to go and group it and add bones .. but there are various helper programs out there if you feel intimidated (autogrouper, quickconform, Pwizard, etc) note: this is really best suited to cloth type items, not hard stuff like belts or armor. also it doesnt extend to the head, hands or feet as I recall. sorry for the delay .. my ebots seem to have made a left turn at albuquerque
Thanks for the info. I've been thinking about getting Clothing Creator since it came out, and even more since the price dropped. Still haven't decided.
I always find it easier to resist temptation when the product is a mailable CD. If it's a download, I usually give in to instant gratification. I'm lucky VistaInternet only sells products on CD, or I'd be broke by now!
