I think it's great! Like she just popped into the frame with enough of here face showing as not to distract from the image. Many pro head shots are cropped extremely tight Also the DOP adds to this image giving a slight illusion of motion. As for "show-able" half the stuff I post probably isn't considered show-able, so you might want to get some more opinions. One more thing there are a few things I would touch up and soften on her face before showing it IMHO:}

hmmm - imo, there's nothing wrong with the gall or her position.... the blurred trees popping out of her head on the left need to go though.
My eyes naturally start on her face, work left to the highlights of her hair, follow it in to the darker bits.... then into blurry branches.

Her face is cool and the position is good - it's not the norm, obviously, but that's what adds the feeling of spontaniety(sp?). Well, for me anyhow.

May be it should have read DOF (depth of field) and not DOP? I like the compo, as for her face, I would probably leave it as it is. Maybe ryno is referring to the few minor blemishes, but they are realistic. I would maybe crop in closer to make it portrait style rather than landscape style

Yep I like that, there in not so much empty space, but thats just me. Others may feel differently. In the end it is you that must be happy with it.

I like the new crop! Looks great..... as for the trees, I think the dof blurs them up enough where they're not a distraction.

i prefer the first shot without croping. i like this kind of composition. it looks really good on your shot. its an excellent portrait photography. !!!!!!!!!! #:O) !!!!!!!

for me the vertical works better... honestly, the 1st looks like a goof-up, do like the tone though & candidness:]

i like the first one MUCH better because it's softer somehow. i like that in the first one she looks farther away. hard to explain why though.

Shee, she looks further away in the top one coz the picture is smaller than the second one, which is further emphasised by the crop.... ;-) Now, I like the first one still, but I really like the second one. It's like, BAM! she's there to look at and that is that! Nowhere for your eyes to wander, she IS the subject, full stop. I know this is the point that I get niggly, but it's the way I work myself so I'm not just doing it to be critical... I look at the pic and think about what I AM looking at and what I SHOULD be looking at. (When these are the same I'm usually finished, see?) At the moment I am looking at her earring. It's brighter than everything else around it - I would mask it and add a touch of a burn to tone it down. And there's a white spot on her tooth that's doing my head in too. But that's it. What you need to remember though is anything above is just my point of view, or the way I would do it - it doesn't mean it agrees with what you want or how you want the picture to appear.....when I was younger, more influenced by people who knew better and not so vain I also used to ask for comments. And (this bit is totally true, if not entirely believable, Shell!) I tried EVERYTHING that EVERYONE suggested. Over time I learned which tips to adopt and which tips didn't suit my style. Now I'm arrogant enough to ignore what people think and do the picture how I damn well want whether it's right or wrong :-D (",)

I like the 2nd best, but I do think ReBorneUK has made some valid comments.

I tried mirroring the image and like it coming from left to right. Now there is another thing to confuse you all up. Second is by far nicer.

I like the first compostion better. It's like a visitor just popping into your life unexpectetly. The larger empty space contributes to that feeling of surprise and spontaneity IMO. An interestng point by dBgrafix about flipping the image left to right. Because we in Western society read from upper left to right we somehow subcosciously expect our eyes to scan images like that. The fact that she is entering the scene from the opposite corner kind of adds to the feeling of surprise IMO. One minor point though, I sort-of wish that there was more hint of highlights in the eyes and less on the earrings. Again, just my opinion.

Yea I too prefer the first version actually! But I'm not gonna use the image after all! Thx again for ur feedback guys!

I always liked the first one best Cyndi! I tried the cropping cos I always try what people suggest (well, almost) and then see if I like it or not! But as I said, I'm not gonna use it after all cos I'm not that pleased with it! ;)
