Hello all, feel free to fill in the blanks to the question. here is mine I would buy Poser 6 because seems better than Poser 5 -is affordable -it offers much more features -it works for macos x But i won't because -if clothing and renderending is as slow as P5 then what's the point -no lense flair lights included within p6 -I need the money for doctor visits thanks

DCArt ( ) posted Fri, 11 March 2005 at 11:37 PM

Would because: Lots of cool new features I really like the new characters I've purchased every version since release 1, why stop now? Won't because: Too late. I bought it. 8-)

I would buy Poser 6 because it looks to be a great new version. But I won't because ... I can not.

I would: - If it supports multiple parenting - Because Its a habbit to buy the latest new 3d stuff - as in i have Max7 already I won't: - If it turns out that i wont gain anything due to the fact that i render in a system thats more advanced than posers rendering capability (max, that is)

Well, I already laid all that out earlier today :)

But in all seriousness, I'm taking a wait-and-see attitude.

I would: - Better Workspace - Better lighting - More Rendering Choices - Great New Figures - Heck of a value for just over $100 USD for the upgrade if you really want to compare it to any similar feature set. I wouldn't: - If I lived in a cardboard box and dined off of Ramen (tm) noodles. - If it doesn't finally bring piece to the middle east, do my laundry and a big beam of sunshine doesn't come out of the box when I open it. - Oops! I already bought it!!! and no box either but thankfully I have the technical skill to burn a cd-rom :D

odeathoflife ( ) posted Sat, 12 March 2005 at 12:21 AM

I would: -cause I want to support a company that I have full trust in -cause it seems like a good program with some nice features -cause I wanted shade a few months ago and chose to instead get trueSpace (for which I am very pleased with and if I had to go back I would make the same choice) but couldn't pass up the free include to have yet another tool to work with. I wouldn't: If it wasn't for the help of a great online friend :)

I would: Buy Poser 6 (I did). I wouldn't: Buy Posser 6 (because I don't like Possete, don't like pluggins, and I'm not a proffesional).

I would:1)I simply can't resist it 2)Better Figures 3)Open GL 4)Point Lights 5)Render Settings 6)Shader Improvements I wouldn't:Somebody would heal me from Poser Addiction.I must be mad.

aeilkema ( ) posted Sat, 12 March 2005 at 3:25 AM

I would because.... [1]It costs $79 only... That gives me at least 4 new useable figures (James, Jessi, Ben & Kate), complete with morphs, texture maps, hair, poses and clothes. If I would buy Mike 3 at DAZ, I'll end up paying far more then $79 for him alone if I want hair, clothes, morphs, textures and poses with it and then I'll still need to get V3, luke and Laura [2] The new figures just look great. [3] Shade 7 LE comes with it, that alone is worth the price. [4] I like the UI improvements a lot. But I won't because? I'd be a fool not to get it. Knowing CL there be some cool surpises with it when it comes to content as it was with P5.

Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

I did because it's cheaper now than it likely ever will be again, I love Poser, and I'm curious as all hell.

I can't imagine not buying it, unless it was wicked expensive. Then I'd wait for a sale.

Well, maybe if I found out that CL was secretly a front for Al-Qaeda or something. Then I guess I'd have to switch to D|S.

I wasn't sure but I did when I saw that, FINALLY, after about 7 years of beefing about it, you can set the creasing angle. Edge weighting would have been a helleva lot better but I'll take what I can get. Having to use an external app to get something as simple as a cube import to look right was really rather silly. Also, I was pleased with the release of P5 Mac - it may have taking a year but it was a real solid release - I'd rather have slow then buggy!

artistheat ( ) posted Sat, 12 March 2005 at 6:54 AM

I would buy it because it seems to have a better light system...It looks to even render better then PP or P5...Plus I never got P5 so it would be a great update from PP... I wouldn't get it if my credit card is over it's limit...LOL....

I would buy Poser 6 because

  • new features are excellent that is the first reason.

  • new figures looks nice too

  • shade 7 LE comes with it

  • I never buy before any copy of Poser and I have them all
because in any way I was always sponsored by the company
self and did good job to promote this product until Poser5 ...
Now have to buy self one because I was to leasy in
the last year using Poser5... oh is that so????? how say this???lol

I won't:
I would because I already did :P

Plutom ( ) posted Sat, 12 March 2005 at 8:46 AM

If you have Poser 4 or below, purchasing Poser 6 would be a great deal. If you have Poser 5, I would take the wait and see attitude, maybe wait for Poser 7 or 8. I do the same computers, went from Win 95 to WinXp (from 200MHz to 2Gigahertz). Heck, I do the same for everything I buy (except food and well--), especially automobiles-get great used ones with most of the bugs taken care of already. signed cheap, very cheap Plutom.

randym77 ( ) posted Sat, 12 March 2005 at 9:02 AM

No way! I want OpenGL now, dammit! Heck, if I could pay a few more bucks and get it today, I would. :-) I am hopeful that P6 will be more stable than P5, if only because they've abandoned support of Win98. That alone would be worth the upgrade price for me.

billrobertson42 ( ) posted Sat, 12 March 2005 at 9:14 AM

I would: Because it might have usable documentation. I (probably) won't: Becuase I'm sceptical that it will have usable documentation. All I really need it for is rigging/posing, and I can do that in blender which is free. Blender sucks too, but at least the suck to dollar ratio is favorable. :(

I would buy Poser 6 because
-What we've seen of the new figures looks promising
-People who's work I trust (RDNA) were apparently involved with the development of the figures
-better lighting that seems to integrate better with the firefly render engine
-Good value at the price
-Winter Queen package looks interesting
-figures are more fully integrated with Poser's features than the Mil figures. Having the morph areas subdivided is such a bonus! No scrolling through 100 morphs to tweak the nose.
-Figure diversity. For all their morphs, it is near impossible to make a vicky or mike that looks different in the face from every other vicky and mike.

I haven't bought Poser 6 because
-I would like to see some good, full body nude shots and some shots of the bodies in poses - to see if the joint setup is at all improved. Extreme poses would be even better to show off the shoulders, hips and knees
-The slew of bugs Poser 5 was released with makes me a little skeptical of CL. I generally don't buy software before SR 1 anyway.
-Other than the lighting impovements, I'm not sure the other new features are anything that will be of consistent use ro me
-I just BOUGHT poser 5 - the day before 6 was announced!
-I want to see what merchant/freebies support the new figures get
-I'd like to see a list of head and body morphs for James and Jessie
That said, 'would' is winning.

I won't buy P6... 1) Until I actually know it works 2) Until I actually see the content and know the details of the new features, P5 fixes, included content 3) Until I know what the response times are 4) Until the first price drop after release 5) Until all the suckers who bought it have used it at least a month, so I don't have to do free alpha testing for CL again 6) Until I know that the problems that were inherent in P5 have been fixed 7) Until I actually see one freaking render posted using P6 that isn't a cheap promo shot from CL. I'd be a lot happier with the idea of purchasing P6 if CL hadn't done the pre-release program. After CL intentionally released P5 with known, major bugs because of cash flow problems, I think I'd be an idiot to buy P6 until it's proven and the level of fixes needed (as in any new program) are minimal. I WILL buy P6 when... 1) People are actually using it, and I don't see a complaint about something new for a week. 2) I know that CL isn't using the pre-release as another "get cash so we don't close" ploy. 3) There's a proven market for P6 items. 4) When I know that Content Paradise is either a seperate program from the main program, or can be easily removed. 5) When we get, and I'm not holding my breath, a public apology from CL for the release nightmares of P5. Frankly, I still think CL should be giving a free copy of P6 to everyone who purchased P5 on pre-release. And everyone who participated in the public "Beta" test of whichever of the the service packs they ran here. You know, they never said "Thank you" to us for doing all that free beta testing either.

Virus ( ) posted Sun, 13 March 2005 at 10:59 AM

Totally agreed with pdxjims and Goldfire. It seems fom my humble point of view that the "new improvements", are only focused in the render engine and new content. Hope I'm wrong, but it seems that the walk designer has not been improved :(.

It doesn't include a new female adult figure at all (both James and Jessi are, apparently, "male" according to CL).

Catherina, I should have said: ...Until all the brave people who bought it the have used it at least a month. Point taken, apology rendered. I'm usually better than that. That said, I hope it lives up to all of it's hype. I hope it's wonderful. I hope all the good people who spent their money on it are satisfied completely on the first day and evry day thereafter. But according to the track record CL has had so far, I'm not going to hold my breath.

Mec4D ( ) posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 6:32 AM

Lol I was kidding Jim, I don't know why but I feel this time we get what promised to us! and I speak here about the new features not the new models... From the preview screens I saw a renders that show a figures in a light that is much different from what we see on the screen, self the colors are not actual, so this made me little worry about but ok when I see Poser6 self I can say more and if this not give me what promised I have the option of my money back for 30 days as everyone else self if the company don't have the option in the store. So I don't see any problem. If people wait for a magic ART button then it don't exist and never will. You have to tell the computer what he have to do for you and not vice versa ? :) I pre-order and I hope for better tomorrow and you can call me a sucker if this is for real another mistake under number 6 ok ? or better I will call myself a sucker! I hope for not! Hugs! Cath

I would buy Poser 6 because my son would likely enjoy it. And my best friend would really enjoy a copy of it. And I might futz around with it once every six months, and I do so dislike using old software. It so, well, bleh. I would not buy poser 6 becuase I might actually be inclined to hang around these forums consistently. For educational and commiseration forums, they are passable at best -- but for whining/bitching/complaining, they seem to be the favored locale. I would buy Poser 6 because I am not familiar with the tales and regaled half remembered and now unsupported events that apparently have all the folks up in arms. I did purchase Poser 5 when it came out, and it sucked wind. So Did Mac OS8, Linux 4, Windows Me, Photoshop 5, and if I were to sit and really put thought into it I could probably come up with several more exmples (there was a lotus version, and a filemaker one that made us switch to a different software at a higher cost, and some others). They patched it. Made it work. Big deal. I would not Purchase poser 6 because I bought Poser 5 when it first came out and it sucked wind. I would Buy Poser 6 because it looks interesting and meets the needs that I have. I wouldn't because I'm broke.
