Yeah. That makes it look like what you're trying to do is apply a pose to a clothing figure that's not been loaded yet. Make sure you're in the Figures directory and find the M3 Medieval Heroes (I've not bought it so not sure that's exactly what it'll look like...the readme would tell you) and hit the double checkmark to add the clothing figure in first. THEN you can go to the poses and change colors/etc from there.
John
ok, deep breath load mike to the scene. select tunic from either the props or figures library. the library shown in your screenshot is POSES, some of them material poses which will change the appearance of an item. It can be confusing because some of the poses may appear to apply an item of clothing when in fact they only apply a texture. (keeping it as simple as possible.) look for mikes tunic in the figures library.
Ahhh. The readme mentions nothing of this. Now I understand when DAZ says certain items need prerequisites. Thanks alot. I'll give it another shot. Trouble I'm having is trying to find where DAZ installers placed all this stuff in Poser.

fyi, The readmes are stored in a folder under the poser one (I think just in the main poser folder, but I don't have poser in front of me ATM so I can't be sure) the only reason I mention this is that I used Poser for like 2 years and didn't know that the product readmes got stored there. I thought it was just for Poser's main program's readmes. DOH. I reinstalled the Daz stuff everytime I wanted to re-read the readme. Like I said DOH on my part.
OT-how did you get your windows to look like that?

That's either a 'theme' for WinXP or something like WindowBlinds. I don't use either as they both suck up resources, memory, and processor power. ;)

Try this.
Step 1. Load nude M3.
Step 2. In the Figures tab find the folder named M3 Clothes, select M3 tunic then click the double check marks.
Step 3. Make sure the a tunic is selected 1st. In the Menu bar select Figure>Conform To... In the drop down box select M3 or Figure 1.
Step 4. Open the Poses tab>Mat M3 Medieval Heroes. Than select your texture of choices.
:) hope this helps.

kuroyume0161 has right. Its WindowBlinds. Its free if you don't mind the reminder very time you boot up. Thanks OneShot. I followed everything up till select M2 Tunic. I bought the darn thing, but DAZ only gave me the link to d/l the .sit file (for Mac only). Every other file they gave me the .exe file. The Tunic seems to be the main thing I need and DAZ isn't responding to my nastygrams. I guess I'll have to phone them towmorrow.

First... never use the DAZ installer to simply let it install helterskelter whereever it damned well pleases today if it is a blue moon. They are messy. They are illogical. They are sloppy (Zygote people/DAZ people/Zygote character/Zygote characters/DAZ character/DAZ characters/!DAZ characters.. where the hell is the Frankie version of Mike?). And sometimes they don't even put things where they say they are putting them. Do you enjoy watching Poser spend 20 minutes hunting for a file? Readmes will overwrite each other if you let them all go into the one folder. Tough luck if you need to reinstall a file just so that its readme is the current one. Readmes which are "docs" won't get read at all for those of us on a Mac. Click on the installer. Do ***not*** choose "easy install". There is nothing easy about hunting down some transmap or requisite file because some idiot thought that a texture ought to be in the camera folder because too many users have filled up their poses folder. Bullshit. Why should I have to rename files because I think that cameras are cameras and hands are hands? Make a temporary folder on your desktop or some other easy-to-find place. Choose "custom install" or "extract" or whatever the current wording on the DAZ installer says (it changes). Extract everything to your temporary folder. Read the readme to see what you are supposed to have and what is it called and where DAZ thinks it ought to go. That is the only information you'll get out of it (nothing on how to use it), but you can spot problems with bad paths and too-long file names at this point. Being on a Mac, I use MacInstaller to place my files in folders I have made and organized. This way, I know where it is. If I want a dragon in a scene, I refuse to waste time going through a half dozen folders named after modelers, texturers, or brokerage houses when I can put all dragons under (golly gee whiz) Dragons. All horses under Horses. All merfolk under Merfolk. Duh! MacInstaller will make sure that a required earlier file is installed, so there is no problem with decoding. PC users have a couple of other programs which do the same thing. I don't give the tip of a rat's tail about who brokered the model at the time I bought it!!! All they did was take my money and hand me the product. If I need a spaceship, am I going to remember 3 years later that I bought it at DAZ or PoserPros or got it though Traveler's PropsClub (he has a real nifty one this week) or found it in FreeStuff here? Nope. If I want a space ship, I'll search my Library for "Vehicles - Spacecraft". I can compare them and choose the one I need and not the first one I managed to find. Logical. MY library. The link is to a thread on organizing and being systematic about it. Any system will work... you place things where *you* can find them... and it is far better than handing your program to some egocentric brokerage house that has yet to learn the basic principles of taxonomy. Carolly, former reference librarianDo you enjoy watching Poser spend 20 minutes hunting for a file? Hopefully, this particular "feature" of Poser is something that they've fixed in P6. It'll be great if they have.
I have multiple runtimes, also.
Unfortunately, whenever P5 is unable to locate a texture file, then the program spends a long time "looking" for a file that isn't in the expected location.
After 5 to 8 minutes or so (20 minutes is a slight exaggeration to make a point), Poser comes back at you with a query as to where the file might be found?
This is one of my least-favorite irritations with Poser. This and locked-up renders on complex scenes. Both of these issues are problems which I sincerely hope will become a thing of the past with P6.
BTW - the amount of time that Poser expends on these useless file "searches" isn't affected very much by the speed of one's computer. It's just a flaw in the software.
My render window that tells you what its doing does disappear at times when my scene is complex as you say, but if i leave hte computer alone... the render happens to just appear. i always choose the render to appear in its own separate window. I also dont run photoshop at the same time... those two just dislike each other G
My render window that tells you what its doing does disappear at times when my scene is complex as you say, but if i leave hte computer alone... the render happens to just appear. i always choose the render to appear in its own separate window.
On very complex scenes -- more often than not -- P5 will choke on the render. Even if P5 is the only program running.
You can have a super-hot computer, with tons of RAM -- and this problem will still persist.
Some of the render tricks like changing the Bucket size can help -- occasionally. But usually not.
I solved this problem by purchasing Vue 4 Professional (Vue Infinite should be arriving in my mailbox sometime in the next week or so -- it's supposed to start shipping tomorrow).
Since I now render my Poser scenes in Vue, I no longer experience Poser's render lock-up problem.
I have never had this render problem with poser 5 (I am one of them who have never had a problem though even through 2 computers my 1 gig duron and my new 2 gig sempron) Sometimes it will take a while to render but I have never had to shut down because of a crashed render...I dont recall ever having to shut down poser5 due to a problem, poser 4 sure all the time :)

" OT-how did you get your windows to look like that?" It's Windows XP, and View ----> List. It's my preference as well. More files viewable on screen than with icons or thumbnails.

That's a pretty unique story. I've never heard anyone else say that they have experienced no problems whatsoever with P5 renders - except in the cases of those who never attempt to do complicated scenes.
with 6+ mil figures, clothing, hair, background props, perhaps an animal or two thrown in, complex lighting, and so forth -- more often than not, P5 just can't do the job.
But Vue can. So that's why I'm glad to say that I have Vue in my toolbox.
CorrectReference corrects the reference to texture files in your library items to the actual location. This is a free utility. The pro version also fixes the reference to inj/rem files and to geometry files. This is not free and available from Hogsoft. I run CorrectReference against all but DAZ files to make sure that they will load rapidly. There are vendors whose file references include drives other than C:, and to locations in C: that have no bearing to Curious Labs/Poser 4 or 5.

I run CRPro on everything, including DAZ products. At least two of the products I've bought from DAZ have had missing texture files. They also have a bunch of products with generic texture names. Shirt.jpg, white.jpg, etc. Heck, the black MilCat texture is named black.jpg. I had to rename it milcatblack.jpg, because the MAT was applying a black dress texture to the cat every time I used it.
because the MAT was applying a black dress texture to the cat every time I used it. Hey.....I bet that it looked cool!

I don't know which is at fault here. Poser (which I doubt) DAZ products (more than likely) or my stupidity (yeah, that may be the one). I bought a whole slew of DAZ stuff for M3. Including a Tunic, Boot pak, Lancelot mats, etc.... I can't get any of this stuff onto Michael himself. I click on the tunic, and click on the check mark to add it to the figure and nothing happens. I'd post a screen shot, but I don't want to offend anyone, because my figure is nude, because I CAN'T GET ANY DAMN CLOTHES ON HIM!!! AARRRGGHHH!!!
