Hey guyz and galz, I need help on the above image. I was following along with Real World Bryce 4 and I came across a neat way to do underwater scenes using just the sky lab. As you can see I added a few things! :) I know that there is something missing but I can't seem to put my finger on it. Maybe an other merman or some fish or even a seahorse in the seaweed. Can Some one help me in this endeavour? Thanks in advance, Tankred

This is just a thought, but the sea bottom looks a little plain... maybe you could add some animal life, corals, small rocks... something to liven up the floor in front and underneath the merman... maybe some small rising bubbles too... just throwing out some ideas for you :) Really cool picture already though... I like the terrain...

Well, I did this one before I knew what i was doing, but it might give you some ideas. A sunken ship, or a treasure chest. Ive still got the Galleon object if you want it. i really like the way you did the kelp, but I think you should put some in the background too.

i only mention this because i, myself, often need to do the same thing. Ask yourself, where is he? What ocean, and where? What's he doing? How long has he been underwater (if he breathes air), and what's he thinking? If he's in the Caribbean (suggested by the pretty blue water) he might be fooling with fishies hiding in a coral reef. And, what kind of bottom does kelp grow on? A sandy flat bottom or a rocky one? (i don't actually remember seeing any kelp on the coral reefs in the Caribbean, come to think of it.) What kind of fishies go with that plant life? This story business makes it more fun to do, engages the viewer, and helps you figure out details to add. As Bill Fleming says, the real world is imperfect. Add some dirt and cracks and algae and stuff. And a few air bubbles, if he's an air-breather merman. And he looks lonely. He might need a merrow friend or something. Nonetheless, i applaud your effort. And... how do you like the book? i've barely begun to wade through it. --Nan

Might want to play with the DTE a bit to get something like I stumbled upon to get the rocks to look like they have algea growth. Also, play with the lights with gel textures to get a real ocean bottom effect. Of coarse, that would be moot depending how deep your ocean scene is. Also, it is pretty devoid of life. You might try finding some photos of fish and use the symetrical lattice to create your own models to put in, or just use the pictures. Good luck, you're off to a great start(better than my first attempts).
