This shit has been resolved.

In basic it boils down to an idea in the Terragen-forum that the users of that forum should have a vote into what is appearing in their H20.

Terms like "Dubious quality, sub-standard and poor" have been used to describe works that should not have appeared in the in Terragen H20, anyone with a good pair of eyes and common sense could see that? Common sense?

The idea is that users could have a vote in removing pictures from the H20 (and the gallery aswell, it would not work otherwise) that are within the regulations of the renderosity TOS.

I wrote earlier that i would steer clear of this idiocy, it was stronger than me, sorry..

Anyway if this is allowed to happen than the whole Spritney-case (a few weeks ago) is nothing compared to what is going to be unleashed, the opening of can's of worms by truckload.

I would say kill of the H20, or at least include a "Allow viewers to vote" button.

Do you get anything out of being in the hot20?

Bondware coding sucks, that's the reality of it.

(oh and btw, the idea they decided upon is idiotic)

Having a panel cesnor the Hot20 is so not the way to go.

I still suggest having a check box "Remove all trace of the Hot20" and for people that check the box, it's as if it doesn't exist.

Then it'll still be there for those who give a monkeys, and the other 99% can move on in ignorant bliss.

well you all know what my views are on the hot 20 and the rainbow peoples images that get in their. I for one like the idea of the hot 20, i like seeing the decent artwork that many of you guys can do make it in there. I am getting sick of seeing 10-20 minute images make it in there when there are ones that take days if not weeks to do and they don't even get a look in. But then like one person said to me in an IM, the hot 20 is only for entertainment.

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

And that is what i am saying, for entertaining purposes only, a popularity poll.

The flaw in the system that it becomes very easy to vote for a certain picture. If you happen to be an FA of a lot of people than you could basically post a pile of shit and still end up at the number 1 spot. (although, a pile of shit, would that be a violation of the TOS?)

A jury of users that is going to decide who's picture is going to stay or who's is to go is not the way, what's next, the use of rainbows, only top-users are allowed. One of the suggestions that was also made that only users of the program (terragen in this case) should be allowed to vote.

I made it into the H20 in the past, but if only Bryce users where allowed to vote i would never had made it into the H20 in the first place. I need a spellchecker and count to ten ^___^

I have found several of my fav artists by browsing through the Hot20 from time to time...folks that aren't regulars to the Bryce forum. I also DID take a great deal of pleasure from reaching the top of that list the one time I made it there. It is a broken system, but I still believe the only way to make it better is for those who participate to vote more often for works they like. There are many times I see a piece I like but think..."cool, but not top20". Unfortunately pieces of less quality get there so... I have started voting more often than I used to in my own humble attempt to lift the quality of what gets in.

If the hot 20 bothers you ,do like I do and don't click the button.

"Reinstall Windows" is NOT a troubleshooting step.

It's not the H20 that i have a problem with, i understand that it can be annoying for some to see that "Rainbow people" and others who need no effort to get into the H20 while they have to work hard (in their opinion) to get nowhere.

What i have problem with is that here is a proposal that states that pictures should be judged if they are worthy to be H20 stuff in the first place, and if they are not that they should be removed. Removing in this case means that they also would be removed from the gallery because there is no other way.

We are talking about pictures that are in no way violating the Renderosity TOS, at least, last time i looked it did not include that bad-art was a reason for removal.

This is going to be a unfair afair, it is not only going to hurt the "Rainbow People", but others as well who has nothing to do with these so-called H20 problems.

It is not a question of good or bad art, its about fair art, honest work and who is going to be judge by who and by wich standards?

Its unfair and it is going to hurt people far more than those who's ego's are being bruised for what they blatantly call sabotaging the H20.

Robert i totally agree with you. I can see where you are coming from and if it ever happens i'm sure Renderosity will lose a lot of good artist. Can you imagine it, one of your images being voted out because you modelled something in wings and rendered it in bryce. This is behond a joke when people start talking of voting images out of the hot 20 for what ever reasons they choose. CD (Not looking forward to the day when the image Gestapo start voting images out of the Hot 20)

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

Personnally I don't care. As long as they can't vote images out of my gallery that don't violate the TOS the H20 can be vapourized! I am not anti- H20, it just really is not a concern/issue on my screen.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

in almost 4 years here, I've visited the Hot 20 once..;) I just look at everything, and I like what I like..there's more important things in life than popularity contests (which is what it gets to sometimes..;) just check it all out, and choose what you like on your own..you don't need a list..

As of right now, the bottom 6 images in the Hot20 have 10 or less votes. 10 people (including me) have posted on this thread. STOP VOTING FOR ONLY THE PICTURES THAT YOU FEEL ARE WORTHY! Vote for every picture that you like. The system is not broke, it's not being used effectivly. I could be in the Hot20 tonight if I wanted, it only takes seven votes. The Bryce gallery gets 20 something new pics a day. How many individual viewers? Frag it, like I care.

AgentSmith ( ) posted Wed, 23 March 2005 at 11:20 PM

"users could have a vote in removing pictures from the H20" I'll tell ya, if I had to, I, as a Mod, would NEVER vote for that to happen. Yup, the Hot20 is far from perfect, and it certainly isn't THE spot for all great art to go, (as we know many a great image doesn't make it there)...but inacting a way to just remove images because they are in the hot20, and any number of people don't believe they should be...uhhhhh, I don't think so.
