you beat me to the punch (my DEM site). If its flat, copy the greyscale in "pictures" section of terrain editor, create new terrain, then paste greyscale into same spot.Attached Link: http://balder.prohosting.com/~hoferart/macdem.html
digital elevation model Here's Eric Wenger's Grand CanyonThe problem was with the DEM it's self. Until I got a good one the information just wasn't there. So no matter what you tried to do , you couldn'd tweak the greys. the DEMs I finally found have enough info and resolution to create beautiful scenes. But that's really not the point ;-) The point, is that making sure the "GRID" is as high as possible that your machine can handle, and apply the procedural texture "after" scaling the terrain up to a very large size. This way the figure looks like he's on something other than great big splotches of color. Thanks for the URLs though. I can always use more in my arsonal. James
