You'd have to look that up. The newspaper seems to be a fairly respected entity (7 Pulitzer prizes)--not sure how much if any influence the church exerts on the publication these days these days but it's not a "religious paper" in the sense of promoting a religious agenda. The quotes are all attributed so you can research further.

Sorry I'm late replying, guys. I've been away most of today. svdl - If you would like, we (the mod/coord team) can review your entire gallery. Send me an IM and I'll get right on this, ok? :) As for the current topic....please, let's not start any blame games, name calling or finger pointing. Even if it's not at a person. This is a very (surprisingly) civil discussion thus far, and I'd like to keep it that way. Thank, MorriganShadow Poser Coordinator

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it
into a fruit salad.
To me the discussion is over. No nude child, okay. Fact. Above i see advertising banner "School girl Kathie" (okay she is not naked and have adult-breasts). If this summary help to avoid "childporn" - it is okay. Good luck to all and good luck with "hot dressed adult women with teenager-like-titels". great! really! go on in this way! :-(
Christian Science is not classified as a cult by any major religious organization. Nor is ba'hai, nor Latter Day Saints, nor Jehovah's Witnesses. Many people like to think of them as cults, but then many people are for more ignorant of religion than they realize. And ignorance is a normal state -- ignorance is the simple and irefutable state of not knowing. It is, however, often confused witht he term ignoramus, which is a person of little or no intelligence. Don't confuse them. Embrace your ignorance and work hard towards reducing it. Ignore the ignoramus - who will be offended by this. Christian Science is a "modern" faith that has some unusual aspects, and is directly responsible for many of th foundation laws and ideals that led to the recent involvement by Congress in the flordia case. Scientology is a large, religiously classified group founded on the principles developed out by L. Ron Hubbard, a science fiction writer and contemporary of Asimov, Heinlien, and Bradbury (all of whom had a yearly card game until Hubbard became what was described as "too into his own lie" by one of the other three [and it has been attributed to all of them but never confirmed by any of them]. Scientology has a great many wealthy adherents, all of whom contribute to the movement, and those contributions are invested fairly well and utilized effectively. Sientology, like any other orgnaized religious or philosophical movement, has a great many detractors, and is frequently accused of various sinister activities aginst those who denounce it. In light of that, I will now need to subject myself to a rigorous cleansing in prepartion of my next session in an unending attempt to become Clear. (think it will fool them, or should I get new locks for my doors?) As noted above, there is no longer any simple way for anyone to know which religious movement is correct. Therefore, if you believe that there is indeed an afterlife, it behooves you to follow all of them equally and at the same time, resulting in immediate spontaneous combustion and discernation of the truth of the matter for yourself. Me, I'll wait and see.
Thanks for the clarification, I do get them mixed up, though I'm trying hard not to. Whenever I find myself ignorant on a particular subject, my first instinct is to dive headlong into the nearest library or internet search engine. And then start asking questions of anyone and everyone who might possibly have answers. I often get a lot of weird looks but what the heck, it works. Off to educate myself some more.
"As the vice-regents of God, we are to bring His truth and His will to bear on every sphere of our world and our society. We are to exercise godly dominion and influence over our neighborhoods, our schools, our government ... our entertainment media, our news media, our scientific endeavors - in short, over every aspect and institution of human society." It's very funny to see those heretics claiming to be the "vice-regents of God", although I prefer the inofensive three stoogies.
Stupidity also evolves!

::snerk:: Betch the dear Reverend never even read Harry Potter. A Hogwarts shirt in church, eh? What delicious irony, dare I hope that your son favors Slytherin? Now me, I'd have given 'em all heart attacks by showing up in full robes with my familiar, SSSimoniusss. (He may be "only a plushie" but he is a very realistic serpent, enough to scare the daylights out of any snake-o-phobes, which means everyone in the house, so I have to keep him outta sight but that's okay, he likes dark places ;-) Or maybe wearing just the cloak, hat and a t-shirt, but one with a nekkid Snape on it. Now that would be worth enduring a hellfire & brimstone rant, just to see all those Muggles imitate house-elfs.
Even "secular" culture can't resist the tide, witness one of the networks has an "end times" movie, next week I think. As the Borg say, "Resistance is Futile." I did see a guest on a Christian themed talk show discussing about how parents could use harry Potter, pointing out parallels between the story and religion, with some good examples. The next day or so thay had a guest who took the "Harry is evil," line. Unfortunately among certain groups, the latter seems to be by far predominant. From talk shows to theme parks to rock music, there is a "Christian" version of everything now. Unless you listen to the lyrics, it's hard to tell Christian heavy metal from it's secular counterpart. There are MTV equvilant music shows with all the jumpy graphics and quick cuts, etc., just no scantily clad hootchie mamas. CL could probably do well selling a Christian Poser with Bible figures, props and scenes. There is one final frontier though. I keep waiting for the first Christian porn film to appear.

Sorry to be redundant but Good Lord, I just went back and re-read it myself. I cannot urge too strongly that you read it for yourself. If you live in America and you are not a religious extremist then you need to know what these folks are really up to and how far they are willing to go. Frightening is a gross understatement.
