Subject: P6 and removing the Content Room

Does the trick that was used for P5 work for P6? I tried it but must have missed something as it came back by itself!! Is it worth the hassle? TIA

can anyone give a synopsis? I don't feel like signing in to poserpros today.

Gareee ( ) posted Fri, 25 March 2005 at 1:29 PM

You don;t want a synopsis for screwing around removing the room. get Nietherwork's pdf from the link.

Yes, it works but it doesn't give you that speed boost P5 needed while loading. So there's no performance advantage in doing it. YMMV.

Gareee ( ) posted Fri, 25 March 2005 at 4:02 PM

I imagine ther has to be some speed increase beacues you are not loading resources. Plus, when working, every bit of memory is worth retaining.

Synopsis:

1: MAKE A BACKUP OF POSERSHELL.XML before you mess around

2: Open /...runtime/ui/posershell.xml in a texteditor , completely remove the 3 lines that contain "ContentRoom" , save

Gareee ( ) posted Sat, 26 March 2005 at 7:16 AM

except there are more then just 3 lines that say content room to be removed.

hein ( ) posted Sat, 26 March 2005 at 7:26 AM

A search in the XML only found 3 , removing those 3 lines was enough.

Gareee ( ) posted Sat, 26 March 2005 at 7:29 AM

did you read the faq at the link I provided? Check the last entry to delete.. it's about 5 lines..

If I set my texteditor to wrap at #80 I get 5 lines too, the link points to a log-in screen, not going to register to yet another board. Since removing the 3 or 5 lines worked fine here, even without reading the faq, I thought I'd mention it.

I'd just hate to see someone screw up thier poser install, because they were too lazy to read a complete walkthough. And of course now we've both wasted both time and bandwidth, reposting in essence exactly what the link I provided had in it. And I think it's already been reposted here at rendo about 20 or so times.

Ahh, but at least I did not have to sign in to poserpros! the thread was a success for me! * this post is not version specific

Yeah, but you could have had the information 2 days ago, but was too lazy to go get it yourself.
