See link; 1248 Judies just got wind of the opening sale of a local IKEA store (bad taste joke for UK residents there), and are marching cross country. 5 second animation, requires DivX5.1+.

COOL !
The trick I used with Troopers is to create 5 vob from 5 different PZZ (PZ3) marches; with delays. So the 5 animated vobs created the little "delayed" army. ;-) (not sure for my english. Hope you'll understand).

Thats neat how you did that. You guys are great with animations. :)

Thanks all.

For anyone interested in playing with the script, info and download are now available at the above link.

Unfortunately Python with network rendering seems to be broken in the latest build, so this probably won't work with rendercows.

Oops, just added important note to page re: changing frame rates after running script.

Mazak; How do you post a completely empty message on this forum? Best I can manage is a ".".

Now found a bug, and why it won't work with rendercows. Currently testing updated version and re-writing web page. Revised page should be up within the next couple of hours. Apologies for any inconvenience caused, I'm saying 1000 RTFM's as a penance.

jwhitham ( ) posted Tue, 29 March 2005 at 4:53 PM

OK, now realised that it's not my fault that it doesn't work with HyperVue, result being this may take a bit longer than I thought.

jwhitham ( ) posted Fri, 01 April 2005 at 11:46 AM

Fixed a positioning bug, still doesn't work with HyperVue. Improved version now at the link previously given.

Phoul ( ) posted Fri, 01 April 2005 at 1:13 PM

Cool again! :-) Thank you to share your work.

jwhitham ( ) posted Fri, 01 April 2005 at 1:36 PM

I'm happy if someone who actually makes renders, rather than just dreaming and tinkering with scripts like me, can use it for something :-)

I'm now working on a version where the figures walk in whatever direction they are facing, and avoid walking into one another, this doesn't seem as difficult as I first thought, so may be available before Monday.

Have a good week end! ;-) thanks in advance.

In the intro to your Figures Marching script you say to assess how the full scale figure to be used in the EcoSystem travels per second,in Vue logical units! How do you do this? as I cannot find any section in Vue that covers this section!
Is there any way of using pre animated Daz Poser figures not walking but doing things with their hands.ie Standing and digging, firing a bow, doing exercises etc? arrow1

I obtained the distance travelled by setting up a one second walk along a straight path in Poser, imported this into Vue and measured the length of the path against a Vue cube. So far I have tried Don and Judy, both work OK with a value of 45, one of the robots (can't recall which) required a value of 30. If anyone else uses this script and comes up with numbers for other figures, let me know and I'll put the values on the page.

Any repetitive action can be used, obviuosly not with this script, import your figure (digging or whatever) make it a repeat animation (animation toolbox) and save as a VOB before adding to the ecosystem. If your figures are on a flat surface then any poser animation can be used, including those with walk paths, however getting the figures not to walk into one another can be tough!

I would like to do the same with an old sailing ship.

I'll echo the answer I gave wonderboy, not that he's wonderboy there, on the e-on forum here:

"I started writing a script for this a few months ago. I had a problem getting realistic looking pitch and roll angles though, but I'll try and get back to it over the weekend."

And add; I found myself a bit trigonometrically challenged by the pitch and roll bits, think I've got it sussed now though, I'll try and complete it over the next couple of days. Edited for inevitable typos.
