Subject: Any info on Poser 6 working with Transposer 2?

steama ( ) posted Wed, 23 March 2005 at 2:17 PM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 12:19 PM

I noticed that Poser 6 is now shipping. Does anyone in the community know if Poser 6 plays nice with Carrara's New Transposer 2? I know I may be a bit early with this question but I was wondering before I purchase Poser 6. Thanks for any info provided...

Just got an email back from Eovia Technical support and although they were not willing to give a definate "thumbs up" they mentioned that some people had got this to work. The important thing appears to be to install Transposer after installing Poser.

InfoCentral ( ) posted Thu, 31 March 2005 at 9:56 PM

Poser 6 ships with Shade 7 LE which has PoserFusion build into it. So you can render Poser scenes within Shade. The word is that even Shade 7 doesn't handle all of Poser 6's new features. So I would be very surprised if Transposer is able too.

What does one do if they never had Poser 5?

kilal ( ) posted Fri, 01 April 2005 at 1:58 PM

I hope Eovia is gone a do something...

InfoCentral ( ) posted Fri, 01 April 2005 at 5:16 PM

What happened to the left side of the face?

steama ( ) posted Sat, 02 April 2005 at 1:22 AM

kilal, GREAT NEWS! How did you do it? 1) Did you need to select an older Poser exe like Poser 4 or 5? 2) Did you install Transposer 2 after Poser 6? 3) Was any other version of Poser installed? last one 4) Did you need to install the Transposer 2 plugin twice? Good Job!, Appreciate any additional details. Steama

Hi! Steama! Today i'm a little bit confused about this! Yesterday it was working well with poser6.exe and today i need to select poser5.exe before import poser6 file. They are both installed in my computer( poser 5&6).Don't need to install transposer2 twice because transposer is installed inside Carrara. At this time i think i'm gone have some questions to eovia Thechical support. If i find something new about that i will contact you!I hope you'll do the same.

kilal ( ) posted Sat, 02 April 2005 at 11:08 AM

Hi! It's me again! I finally understand what happened with transposer2. I can't import any file if i don't select poser 5.exe when i import
a figure for the first time.If a figure have ever been imported by poser5 exe, the next times i can select poser6exe and it works well.At this time i don't know if animations are imported correctly. On my first try the body animation was ok but not the face morphs.I received poser6 yesterday in the morning .just beginning the tests .
Have nice day ! kilal

I see the close-up picture has been deleted. I guess that answers the question of what happened to the left side of the face. All and all looking at the shadows on the skin and face I can say it doesn't handle them too well. This was really evident in the close-up picture that was deleted.

The same Character render with HDRI .Looks better?

kilal ( ) posted Sun, 03 April 2005 at 11:00 AM

In conclusion i think that Transposer2 doesn't work properly
with Poser6.I can import characters ,body animation but not face morphs.I hope Eovia will update Transposer2 soon.
PS.If someone have new informations about that or if you think i'm wrong let me know...
Regards kilal :-)

Kilal, On face morphs importing into Carrara 4...it won't happen yet (not until Curious Labs can produce a Poser 6 SDK). I have read a post that facial expressions do not even work in Shade yet. Steama

Kilal, The new close-up, is that a FireFly render or one done in Carrara? I noticed that the top of the head looks like the curve is done with short straight lines. Same thing with the right ear.

InfoCentral ( ) posted Sun, 03 April 2005 at 1:09 PM

Yes, the new close-up does look better thought. But if you look at the girl in the green top you can see the same shadow problems on her forehead. And what is going on with the right wing of the Winter Queen.

kilal ( ) posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 9:33 AM

The new closeup is done in Carrara4Pro .Any way transposer2 doesn't work properly with poser6 in fact i used
poser5 exe to import. You can understand that poser5 exe doesn't have a full compatibility with poser6 characters, problably there some informations missing or misunderstood by poser5 exe.The best thing to do is to wait for transposer2 update:-)

InfoCentral ( ) posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 9:54 AM

Sure. The Poser -> PoserFusion -> Shade isn't 100% yet either.

steama ( ) posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 11:32 AM

I was told by someone at Eovia that Transposer 2 does not use the Poser.exe file that Transposer 2 wants you to select in order to import a Poser file. Transposer 2 uses its own Transposer 2 Poser Run Time to open the Poser file (I bet it is based on Poser 5 SDK). Transposer 2 simply wants you to select a Poser exe to verify Poser is there in order to bring in a Poser file. So I guess that means that the programming in Transposer 2 is based on Poser 5 SDK, therefore, it is not totally compatible with Poser 6 (doesn't even recognize it as a Poser.exe file). As stated in this thread even Shade is not 100% compatible either with Poser 6. Steama

kilal ( ) posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 12:46 PM

You're right! At this time Eovia is waiting for Poser6 SDK.

ShawnDriscoll ( ) posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 1:03 PM

So they can make a Transposer 3 for importing Poser 6 files in time for Poser 7. :)
