I am very glad I got P6. It worked for me right out of the box. As a merchant/artist creating characters it is a real benefit. 1) Loading textures is much faster than P5 or for me even poserPro. 2) I find the render quality very nice. 3) Almost everything I use like python scripts, injection magic etc works with it. 4) Seems like dynamic cloth and hair work very well I am still learning and I don't do large scenes but it is very nice for character development. cheerio lululee

You probably need to enable cookies. That's how Content Paradise handles everything. That seems to be the common issue around the boards.

Also, you must be registered, including using the link they send you when you register. That could be your problem as well.

As for using Content Paradise within Poser, I don't blame you. It is definitely buggy, and really serves no purpose other than bloat. It is simple enough to go via normal browsing.

All in all, the update shouldn't even be on CP. It should, at the very least, be located on the "update" section of the Curious Labs site, if not built directly into the application to begin with!

You probably don't need the update, since as you have most likely seen above, it doesn't fix anything. I would just try again since CL will probably use the same method to give out the "real update" at some point, and you probably want to know it works for you in advance.

Good Luck.

Destro - cookies are enabled - have registered - gave them my serial number - all the above and still nothing. I am ticked that the update isn't on the CL site and I'm hoping they fix that soon - IMHO the only reason they have it on Content Paradise is for a marketing ploy. I'm not happy about having to join another site to get something that should be mine anyways afterall, I did pay for it when I purchased the product. My 2 cents. Oh well - will wait till Monday and see what happens then Angel1

Wow, that really bites then. Sounds like you have everything in place. It figures, and it really doesn't surprise me. If you have a high-speed connection, and you have MSN or Y! I can transfer the file to you. (Maybe that violates an agreement or whatever, by for crying out loud CL, we are paid users!)

I absolutely agree with you that this is a marketing ploy. As I said above, it seems funny that not only is it housed on the CP site, you have to go through a whole registration process, including email verification, to get an "update" for a product you paid for.

Online Now!

Happy. Just need to figure out the shadows in the lighting to the way I like 'em.

In spite of the memory bug that's so annoying ---

--- all in all, P6 is worth a lot.

And I fully expect to see the memory bug fixed with the first service release.

So, yes......I recommend buying it. No other version of Poser can hope to match P6's potential for realistic renders.

If only they'd get rid of that #&^%^#^%$^%&^#&^** MEMORY BUG, then P6 would be the Golden Prime.

I got it the first day it was available for download... Even though there are some annoying bugs I'm still glad I got it :-)

Hi Destro Thanks for the offer - I'm pretty sure that giving me the file (even though I PAID for it) violates something. I'll have to continue to sit back and stew over their practices until they get it right.... In the meantime......I have one kick ass program to play with lol Angel1

I'm glad I bought it even though I haven't loaded it on my machine/laptop yet. Need to get about 10G off before I cram anymore on it, and life has been insane enough without trying P6 yet. Still, I'm glad I got it-- just squeezing by on the preorder price. Because I doubt I could afford it, seeing how finances are becoming tighter than. . .TOS is forbidding just about every metaphor I can come up with. . you fill it in. I can use the time to learn from everybody else's problems while I'm waiting for SR1-- the real one-- to arrive. For the record, I didn't load up P5 until SR3 and didn't really work with it till SR4. Yeah, I'm a weenie. But just looking at the renders posted, even the one's that people are complaining about, is exciting to me. I couldn't do that in P5.The first posts in the head room look good as opposed to the horrors that came out of P5 at the beginning. IBL and AO look fantastic. And, I for one, could use the help they added to the Material room. I do think this is a big step ahead for Poser and, for the most part, remembering the mess with P5 vividly, CL has been quite different this time around in their quick responses. Maybe I bought it for hope, who knows? But I'm still glad I did. I wouldn't be able to afford it at the post release price. Unless there's another fire sale at Amazon.;)) I'm an old lady and I like to take things very slowly. Except for renders, grrrr! And, thankfully, P5 is working better than ever. Meanwhile, I do what I did 3 or 4 years ago while waiting for replacement disks for Poser 4, I sit and read Renderosity and get a major education no manual could ever give me. I have folders of saved snaps of the Mat room and settings tips and heaven knows what. You guys are a Treasure. Thank you. Emily

Glad I bought it, but there are some things (like others) that I'd like to see changed. 1.) if I select a light, how come my delete key cannot delete it? 2.) I REALLY want the "render to a new window" out back, so I can scroll around it in while it's rendering. 3.) I'd like the background color palette to be moveable, and remember where I put it. (with an oversized render window, it opens off screen.) 4.) Lights..Light... lights...obviously they are more powerful now, but for gosh sakes, couldn;t you give us a few basic good sets so we know how to work with them? (Old P5 light sets do NOT count!) 5.) I want an option to set openGL texture resolution higher then what it is now.. most of use have high falutin graphic cards that can handle MUCH more then poser it tossing at it. 6.) Any possibility of proceedurals showing up in any remotely close to what the actually look like in the preview? 7.) How about some render setting presets with ibl and ao settings? with the more advanced rendering abilities, we need a little more assistance in optimising render speed vs quality. 8.) (and I saved the biggest time for last) If I save a figure in P6, that cr2 is NOT backward compatible with older poser versions. That means for developement, P6 is WORTHLESS, and I need to do all my work in P5! Give us an option to save all content in P5/older format! Changing the cr2 is breaking many developement utilities. 9.) Fix the esc/cancel render bug.. want to know how many times I've hiot it by accident now, and had to wait through a VERY long render?? Long day, I'm happy, but unhappy about everything listed, ESPECIALLY not being able to use P6 for content developement!

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Well I was waiting so long to get my Poser 6 and when I got it, I immidiately put it into DVD Drive (took very long 'til the Setup came up) and installed it. No error during the installation, so far so good. When I clicked the Icon on the Desktop it took very long 'til Poser started. Fine, let's see what's new in the material room, I thought and switched to the room but then P6 crashed. I thought "oh well, maybe there's been running another application in the background", checked the Task Manager, saw there's nothing and startet P6 again. "Ok, let's see how it does handle my models" I thought, pressed the CTRL + O Key to open the File Dialogue Box and P6 crashed. So I visited CL's Website, checked the Troubleshooting found the "Poser 6 crashes on startup or during doing anything" line and read the entire entry. Made all the suggested changes and....nothing. P6 still crashed! :( I'm more than just really disapointed and I hope they get a patch VERY SOON released that adresses these bugs cuz otherwise they'll get my version and I'll demand my money back! >:( It seems to me they learned nothing from the P5 Release! My system: ---------- Intel Pentium 4 (2.64 Ghz), 1,5 GB RAM, Gainward GeForce 6800 GT (256 MB)

diana ( ) posted Sun, 10 April 2005 at 8:24 PM

I'm running Poser 6 on a 3 year old plus P4 1.7Ghz machine, 1GB SDRAM, and I've had a memory error message once after loading several textures for the same figure, closed and reopened the program and was ok to continue with the file.

I rarely render multiple figures, two at most and like to use the reduced resolution models for speed since I'm not doing closeups. Love the OpenGL display even on my creeky old Nvidia TNT2 32MB video card with old drivers that are compatible with Vue4 unlike newer drivers and seem to work fine in Poser 6 and Daz Studio too.

I'm happy with it overall, glad I bought it. Won't upgrade my system for a while since I've found I can handle what I do with Poser 6 with this old one still.

Annoyed an old Poser 5 bug still exists, I reported this one to Curious Labs before. If I revert a file, the parameter dials palette disappears and I have to get in the menu to make it show up again.

Boreth ( ) posted Mon, 11 April 2005 at 2:56 AM

Poser 6, one of the best and smoothest downloads ever, 700Mb, had down in about 40 mins, didn't bother to get the ShadeLE , program installed just fine. Nifty little icon too, looks real neat next the Poser 5 piccy , person can't ask much more for $70 hmmm.

A little over 2 weeks and most users seem to have run into the same major bugs, bugs which can not have been missed by serious betatesters.
So once again CL knowingly sold a product with major flaws, aka the product is not capable of performing as advertized, try that when selling a bar of soap. :)

Would I buy it again, guess I would , I had a couple of vouchers that were running out and what's $70 on the offchance that there will be a usable program within the next year or so.

mylemonblue ( ) posted Mon, 11 April 2005 at 4:36 AM

I'd agree with that. For $70? That's sweet. After that three patch pain in the @$$ with P5 I'm naturaly gun shy but for $70 to upgrade I might go as far as maybe even reconsideing my opinion about CL! More power to ya! Good luck. :)

My brain is just a toy box filled with weird things

destro75 ( ) posted Mon, 11 April 2005 at 8:38 AM

My question is how did you get it for $70? I had to shell out $129. Did CL decide to drop the price of their product, after selling so many of us this bug-fest?

aeilkema ( ) posted Mon, 11 April 2005 at 9:23 AM

A lot of us had a $50 voucher issued last year by CL. We used that on P6.

Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....

Glad. I'm fooling around with gels to make dappled lights today. Poser 6 ROCKS! It will take us all a while to tap its full potential, but when we do.....look out!

thixen ( ) posted Tue, 12 April 2005 at 5:11 PM

I'm glad I took the plung. If I'd waited then I'd be trying to play catch up with everyone body who got it early when the SR comes out. The memory issue is a pain, but at least I can learn the techniques for when it's fixed.
