Maybe...maybenot. Most of the time, the prop's wavefront obj data is stored in the PZ3, but I think it may be dependent upon whether it was that way in the Prop file (PP2) from which it came. You can simply open a PZ3 in a text editor and check for yourself - something other than NotePad is a good idea since it doesn't handle multi-megabyte files so well.
A P6 PZ3 without PMD file should load up in P4. Just don't expect dynamic hair/cloth, shader nodes, new lights, and new settings to be read in. - Oh, and the references (geometry, textures) must be within the P4 Runtime!

Nope, same file format (with some new keywords). By default P6 saves scenes without morph deltas. These are stored in a separate PMD file. You can stop this by setting the Preferences...

In the meantime, you'll like interPoser Ltd 2.0. I'm targeting release for some time in May (in a few weeks tops). It will load the lights and cameras from the scene file. Also, camera settings, lights, props, and 'prop' hair can be loaded using the Runtime Explorer. Props-hair are already being loaded (except for working animation keys on my morph system - that's my current endeavor).

Thank you kuroyume0161 and all for your help!! I'm gonna send it off and in the meantime (Family Guy & Home Movies area over now) I'll get on Poser-ing them just to be safe in case P4 can't deal with it (However I suspect it'll be ok from kuroyume0161's advice!) Thanks again! G

I could write a lot about this subject, but here is the short version.
Import your prop into Poser, using the; File > Import > Wavefront OBJ... (or 3D Studio...) option. Once the file is imported save it to a props pallet. With this method Poser will internalize the geometry into the pp2.
In a File Manager (e.g. Windows Explorer) navigate to:
.Poser #RuntimeLibrariesPropsNameOfPalletSavedToNameOfFile.pp2
Send "NameOfFile.pp2" to your friend. You will have to include any map files you used, e.g texture maps bump maps etc.
THanks lesbentley, I'm trying to avoid doing all that... It's an interior prop with lots of little details seperate walls, ceiling, floor, doors etc. I just wanted to send the pz3 of it after importing from MAX to save time in setting up and saving each seperate element. I'm actually working on doing that now... Sucks to try and take the easy way out I've learned! I've set up max imported props before... I just don't particularly enjoy doing it! :) Thanks again! G

You can save multiple props to the prop palette in one prop file (using "Select Subset"). And as lesbentley suggests, there is no way to avoid sending image maps separately as they are not stored in the file - only image file references are made in Poser files.

When you save multiple props as one prop can the seperate elements be hidden? I made it the way it is to remove walls snd such to accomodate camera placement and ease varied viewing angles. See what I'm doing (and have done in the past) is saving each wall, floor, ceiling etc as individual props in the Poser space that they need to be to fit in all together... does that make sense? Or am I wasting time doing it that way? Thanks again and for all the help guys!! G

When you save multiple props, they remain multiple props in the PP2 file - just combined into one file.

Hi all, I hope someone can help me with this!! I'm trying to send a prop I modelled in MAX to someone and I suck at Poser-izing them (read LAZY) and I want to just send off the pz3 of the scene instead. (Remember I'm lazy!)
So the $21,000 question is do I send just the pz3 or do I have to include the obj files as well?? Also will a P6 pz3 be able to be used in P4?
Any help would be much appreciated!! And Peacer if you read this you'll see how busy (lazy) I really am!! LOL!!!
Thanks!!
Gerard
