Subject: On Creating "Cinema Scenes"

JTG2003 ( ) posted Tue, 05 April 2005 at 5:32 PM ยท edited Fri, 08 November 2024 at 4:22 PM

I currently own bryce 5, and poser 5. I am actually working on a 3d game, and I would like to create some 'cinema scene' type movies for it. To gine an example, the introduction movie from Neverwinter Nights or the movies made for Lineage 2. Poser 5 seems to be able to carry out the character and character animation portion of it and Bryce can handle the scene, but I can't animate a poser character in bryce nor can I import a good scene into poser to animate characters there.. Basically, is there any other software I should be using? Please, I need all the help I can get. Thanks, Jeremy

The simple solution is to do your backgrounds in bryce either as bmp or avi and use it as the background in poser. Don't show the poser feet or it'l spoil the effect. I did this the last couple scene on a music video/movie trailer I did a while back. Check it out at: http://www.ween.net/garmonbozia/boognish_movie.mpg

Interesting approach..but that's not exactly what I'm looking for. I don't want to feel limited in the sence that I cant show anyone's feet. Thanks for the idea though

you really have no option when it comes to integrating bryce and poser into an all-in-one render UNLESS your willing to give up a few things - like tufif suggested. the other alternative is go with vue. hit the vue forum and im sure youll find good info for intergrating poser animations/figures into vue for your project though, since you have no funding, and are unlikely to invest in other applications - you should take the time to storyboard in a fashion that still gets the point across with bryce and poser.

I have plenty of funding ... that's kinda what the whole topic was about: Getting some software that can do what I want. I'll take a look for Vue, but is there any other software you can suggest now that you know that money is not a factor?

well if $ was no object, then definately HIRE someone instead. then you could focus on developing the core game dynamics and story, not itsy-bitsy models and landscapes. lol, okay that out of the way. youll wana go with a full production quality modeling and rendering application. im sure youve heard of 3d studio max, maya, lightwave. there are alot of others, some are thousands of dollars more expensive but they all essentially do what you want to do. but they also all have a very steep learning curve. the poser vue combo might be your best bet.

Ok. I also have 3DS Max 6, but have little experience in it. When you say 'vue', I'mm assuming youre talking about Vue D'Espirt? I have heard of it..never sued it tho.,

yup, Vue d'Esprit. the renderosity forum link is above, definately go there (if your interested in seeing what a p5/vue combo does) and ask for links to movies/projects using poser and vue. you should be pleasantly surprised :) gl!

Thansk, I appreciate it :) I posed in that forum so .. the happy wait for a reply begins. Thanks for your help.

oh, it just dawned on me, Mover was part of that package too. sorry. :( i forgot.

i think it was vue and mover 5 with poser.

EDIT *** actually it was mover 4. i did a search in the vue forum for Phoul and oddly enough he's deleted almost all of his threads (that i can see) and his website, http://www.belino.net/ isnt what it once was. hes done some great animations with vue 4 poser5 and mover 4. i think vue is what it rendered in, poser, of course is what he used to build the animations and mover is what he used to coordinate the p5 files into vue 4... i might be wrong on how that works though.

Over the past week or so I have been reading more and more about vue and I am amazed! This looks like exactly what I've been looking for. Next paycheck I'll have to pick up the older version they're offering online.

There is a utility called NatPose2 ($50-100 bucks?) that allows you to import Poser animations into bryce. You can download a free demo. It works with 98, 2000, and I think XP.

I don't have the exact website but a quick search should bring is up. Its been around for awhile, I surprised no else has mentioned it. I still use it. I even did my first animation with it.

The other option is Daz|Studio. It's free, but a large download. Since they own Bryce now, they also have an import utility.

Hope this helps.

Djinn.

Hey Djinn, do you have any of your animations online?

NolosQuinn ( ) posted Tue, 03 May 2005 at 9:44 PM

Attached Link: http://www.ruffmessages.com,

Yes,

BLOOD PRESSURE HIGH, a music video, and COVE CITY, a 30sec movie trailer for the animated film that's currently in production.

They are both in the animation section here at Renderosity.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Djinn.
