Now available at Vanishing Point: the All Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST), from *The Empire Strikes Back* and *Return of the Jedi*. This model can be used in Poser 4 and above. It has been tested in both Poser 4 and 6. Poser 5 users should have no issues, but Poser 3 users are on their own. :) Original mesh by shaderWolf and converted to Poser format (with permission) by me. As usual, this model is completely posable: the head and guns can rotate, the legs can be posed, and the front hatches can open and close. Note: the top hatch can't open and there is no interior cockpit. Also note that the AT-ST is scaled to the size of the Poser people and is roughly 8.6 meters tall. The base obj file is over 120,000 polygons and is 18M in size; the zip file itself is just over 4.5M in size. But, I think you'll find that it's worth the download. :) (Because of this, though, there is no WireFusion preview available.) No textures are needed, but the model has been mapped the same way as I mapped my robot mechs: each body part (head, hip, right shin, etc) uses its own map. This should make it fairly easy for anyone to make their own textures. The above image was rendered in Poser 6 using a global light set and the Firefly renderer. And, yes, you read the link correctly- this is the 200th free item available on Vanishing Point! --John

Awesome!

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Note: the top hatch can't open ....

That won't be a problem. I have a Wookie with a large can opener on standby.

Not looking at this in poser of course but setting up IK is a snap, just drag and drop, I am figuring that you would have to initially create your own walk animation though and add it to hte walkdesigner pose library. This is a great looking model...to bad I am not into star wars LOL let the flames begin LOL.

It does have the right part names, so it should work with the walk designer ( the AT-AT has non-standard part names ).

Not that I have time, but I suddenly have a vision in my head of the AT-ST using the Sexy Walk! Thanks John!! (and Shaderwolf too!)

RossoMan ( ) posted Mon, 09 May 2005 at 9:52 AM

Wow! Another great Star Wars model... Thank you very much John!

JHoagland ( ) posted Mon, 09 May 2005 at 12:23 PM

Tried on the Walk Designer. Their is no IK on legs. Dang, I knew I forgot something. :) If you make the AT-ST do a "sexy walk", please post the animation- that would be hilarious! P.S. The book, Star Wars: The New Essential Guide to Vehicles claims the AT-ST was used in the Clone Wars, but I don't think we're actually going to see it in Episode III. --John

There was to be a scene in Revenge of the Sith in which Yoda and Chewbacca ambush an AT-ST, but it didn't make the final cut. Hopefully, it'll end up on the 30th-Anniversary Definitive DVD set. Or whatever.

thixen ( ) posted Mon, 09 May 2005 at 4:24 PM

that would of been awesome, espcially if they had Chewie kinda fiddling with the controls and not really knowing how to pilot it too well at first. It would of explined how he knew how to pilot it in ROJ

Still looking for a Bantha but grabbing the AT-ST. Watched all three movies (new hope, empire, and return) yesterday with my youngest kid watching the last two with me. Thank you for this wonderful gift.

xantor ( ) posted Tue, 10 May 2005 at 6:20 PM

I was trying to convert a bantha for poser but I always have trouble making the tails work properly in figures like that.
