Subject: Oddity using texture filtering turned on

I have a slight problem and I'm not sure if it's the SR1 update or something else that's causing this. When I render with texture filtering turned on, I get seams on the character textures and I know darn well, they shouldn't be showing up like that(see 1st image below). I'm renderinf at Final in the firefly renderer in Poser 6 and I've done that before and never had this problem before with any of the character textures I have and it's not just one or two, it's almost all of them. Anyone else had this problem and if so how did you solve it? Any help would be appreciated :)

Same render as before but is rendered at one step below Final in firefly with texture filtering off and there are no seams. I find this very odd as I know I've used texture filtering before and not had this happen that I can remember.

Why are you using texture filtering? This often happens when it's turned on, and the creator of the texture didn't flood-fill the map in flesh tones.

I turned it on to see if I couldn't get the hair to look better as it does in the first image but if this is what's going to happen with it on, I think I'll stick with turning it off and just touching up the hair in Photoshop :)

You could also try adding a very small amount of displacement to the hair surface in the material room. Sometimes that works for me, depending on the hair.

I reported this error to CL / E-Frontier some weeks ago and they told me that this problem would be fixed with SR 1: >I've done some intensive testing and found that, while the preview issue remains in the LaRoo figure, the render issue has been fixed in the first Poser service release, which is due out shortly. I found this problem occuring on LaRoo, too. That's what this response (from May, 6) refers to. But I have not yet checked it myself if it is really fixed. By the way, I always use texture filtering because it makes much nicer images :-)

It did do it before and it's doing it again and I'd like to be able to use the texture filtering as it does make nicer images, especially the hair. Karen, I did try the displacement and it still doesn't come out as nicely as having texture filtering turned on unfortunately. I guess the other option is to render the character minus the hair without texture filtering turned on and then render the hair seperate but that's not always possible. I'll just have to either muddle thru it or figure out how to fix the character files so the seams don't show.

You may have luck getting comparable results to texture filtering by resizing your hair texture to a smaller size in an image editing program. I assume that the hair texture you're using is comparably large, as in 2000+ pixels wide. Resizing it to something in the 1000 pixels or smaller range could give you results similar to texture filtering without other side effects.

I just checked the textures and they're all 1500 x 1500...I'll have to try resizing the one I want to use and see if that helps. Thanks for the suggestion stewer!!
