Love these hit and run posters. Posts a message, gets literally 51 responses, and never shows up to respond to a single one. An obvious troll.

Hmmm, must've been a "troll" gate. It appears there are only 4 (photos but no renders, per se) in the aforementioned person's gallery, also. Doth we smell something ............. Hmmmmmmmmm? ;=]

geep by the # of your posts in this thread you are the only troll. Are you trying to make people fight? By your style of writing and your assumptions it is as if you are in love with yourself. Why do you always post twice in a row? Are you answering yourself?

I don't know what thread you're looking at but it appears he actually responded 3 times. Looking back, blasted is overracting on my part. But it does seem like the tones of many of the replies have been a bit more snippy than they needed to be. I can understand him not wanting to continue to post in this thread as a result. Some people did that, others focused on the negativity of the guy's original post - and I'm frankly surprised/dissapointed with a couple of posters who seemed to be better than that.. Seems to me the former is more productive than the latter. Cut the guy a break for now at least. If he keeps up with the badmouthing, then yeah he's probably a troll. "Sorry, but a guy that's using the latest high-end 3D apps in school probably isn't hard up." Who said he was? What has this got to do with answering his questions? Seems to me you've confused the whole handout topic you brought up with the guy's actual problems. Unzipped

Well, it seems to me the moral of the story is to learn to use the tools at your disposal, whatever they may be. Make sure the fundamental flaw isn't instead in you. It could be that you're not as familiar with things in program "X" as you could be or your approach is skewed. That applies not only to Poser but any application out there that has multiple choices and approaches. hawkfyr said it well, I think.

To quote the original poster's own words: "I just don't get it. I have raytraced way higher poly heads in Brazil (& even Max's scanline) and got better results in less than half the time. Whats wrong, & Where?" Then he says later: "The best part is I have Gesture Max(College has it, Not me), so importing stuff into max is a breeze. But the mesh is really very high res and bugs up Max." Sounds a bit contradictory, no? He then asks: "Is there any third party renderer for Poser which is faster." To which, he receives an answer from Stewer about exporting as RIB files to other renderers, which he all but totally dismisses. The rest of what he says is basically a sales pitch for 3dsMax, which doesn't really belong in this forum. To me, it sure seems like "someone else" was trying to start a fight... and apparently succeeded. Bye. :-)

uh-oh! Dr Geep is a troll. Dr Geep has a wife. That's going to mean only ONE thing. Lots of little trolls. Besides the proverbs such as "honest as a troll" (trolls are incapable of lying and recognize falsehoods instantly), being hard-working (the women are always cooking or doing laundry, and the men are plowing or hunting), and other good qualities... trolls do have one quality which gets them in trouble. They like human children, especially blond princesses, and will trade their babies for the human ones. They don't steal the kids, that would be bad. They make a fair trade. Now, if you notice that your baby is suddenly acting strangely: hair won't comb, throws tantrums, and won't stop shrieking... you might have a "changling". The way to tell is to boil water in an eggshell. Never fails. The troll baby has to make a comment. Of course, at that point you have another problem. Either you put your talking troll baby on TV or you try to find the parents. Carolly

And not texture / shade someone else's model in a new way and perhaps light it up wonderfully and post it as "Test Render / Relism ? etc etc". And it takes a damn lot time to make a top notch model. :)

And you guys are pros anyway, and i'm sure ya know that. But I'm just learning modeling now. And they decided to use 3Ds to teach us that. And thats what i'm looking for...i'm sure everyone likes to see his models come up relly well in renders. And if a high end renderer(even if i don't own a pwersonal copy), can show me it was relly worth spending 3 damn days to build a car, with only 2-lights and give me decent results...Its cool.
And If I came accross as "Poser ? Firefly sucks", oops! My poor communication sklls! Sorry.
Coz these apps are great anyway. They let you have a personal copy of your own(without having to mortgage your house) to play with. The content's affordable, and the users too are very accessible.
Well, coming back to the thread. If there are some ways to take poser's output out to a third party renderer, we guys here might just mod POV ray for it.
Now that would be good. It won't be that useful and all, but still worth a shot.

Let me get this straight. You don't want to render other peoples models yet you want a third party renderer for Poser. Why would you want Poser at all if you don't want to render other peoples models? Why not just render in Max? Tom
