Subject: How can I convert poser runtime to PC

estherau ( ) posted Sun, 26 June 2005 at 8:44 AM · edited Wed, 22 January 2025 at 9:51 AM

I just tried maconverter by martinC but it says failed to convert. I deleted the preferences, but this didn't help, and I even tried the converter on my other computer. I'm sure it used to work. WEll anyway is there another way. I notice the mac pathnames have : instead of but a simple find and replace doesn't help as there are : in other parts of the Cr2. Anyway it would be too much work to do it this way and would take forever. Thing is poser actually seems to work okay with my runtime just copied from my mac to the PC except it asks me to locate the geometries, so something is confusing it. Love esther

If it's asking for a geometry file, open the cr2 in a text editor and look at the figResource lime at the top. Then check your runtime structure and see if the geometry file is where the cr2 wants to find it. Also check spelling. Don't know how sensitive a MAC is to seeing geometry and Geometry as the same name but a modern PC sees them different.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Aha, for some reason my mac paths aren't full - the path starts with runtime not the poser4 folder where the runtime is, and since I"m using poser 5 then poser 5 naturally assumes the geometry will be in the poser 5 folder I suppose. Love esther

That's all it should need. here's an example: figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:PW:Dungarees-M3.obj I forgot to metion this before as it pertains to spelling, make sure there is a colon before Runtime. Ther should only be one space between figureResFile and :Runtime. Those two things drove me nuts and a few occasions.

I think that's pretty much how my paths look in the PC. Well on the mac I used to have poser 4 inside poser 5 folder so poser 5 could find the textures. But I will try on the PC putting the poser 4 folder outside the poser 5 folder. Maybe this is the answer. Love esther

If you have the P4 runtime linked to P5 by using the add runtime feature what you may try is just what you said but all you should need is a folder called poser 4, the same spelling as on the MAC then dump the p4 runtime into it. As far as P5 is concerned that should keep the link intack.

Nope - it's not working - still asking me to locate the geometry files. I wonder why. Love esther

oh oh, I think I might have just found the problem. The mac files have a path name that includes my hardrive"application folder:poser5"poser 4 etc Maybe i"ll have to make up some folders of same name on the PC. Off to try it. Love esther

I pretty sure you'll need to change any (Mac sytle) absolute paths to relative ones starting with ":Runtime".

The CorrectReference utility may help with this, but I can't say for sure as I don't use it.
