If the guesses are too cold, I will consider giving a clue. Already did actually :)
Nope... that's normal behavior. People add and then delete images all the time :) But you are getting warm :)
Did I forget to mention it was easy ? :) Today, at 7:15 pm Renderosity time, we reached the 1,000,000 mark in the gallery. That doesn't mean we actually have that many images, as a few have been deleted since they were posted. It does mean however, that 1,000,000 images have been submitted so far.
I think RO should make a big fuss of it, give the artist a gift or something, like back in the day when the 1000000th customer at a department store was given 10 minutes to do a trolley dash.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
Just send me $1 for each image in the galleries, and I'll be happy. Hey, I'd settle for half of that amount...........
Hi Kurt,
How the heck are you doing? I sure do miss your comics - they were the best :]
You are tOooo funny - Silly ... flea-marketplace ... what a teaser :)
Thanks for your continued support of Renderosity and the Rosity community. It means a lot to have you here.
Wishing you a great week,
Dee-Marie

Hey Kurt, I was being very sincere ... I have been a long time fan of your works, and have always admired your talent as a cartoonist and a colorist. Plus, it really is nice to see you are still around, even if you are not posting to your Rosity Gallery, at least your Rosity home page has a link to your comics' web site. Wishing you a great week Dee-Marie
Any idea how many of those deathless gallery images are of Renda? :) Was the last question mentioned, I saw around 10 of them in the gallery before she met her untimely but well deserved demise. There might've been a few I missed.
How many of those were NVIATWAS? A fairly large portion I'd imagine, a whole lot more than of Renda I'd bet.
What I was wondering was how many of those million were deleted for 1 reason or another? That many submitted doesn't mean as much if a significant number of them are no longer there it seems to me. Just like I have 210 in my gallery but it's been trimmed down a few times so it might've been more like 300 Message edited on: 07/16/2005 13:27

"HI Spinner, Hmmmm, did not see a question from Kurt to answer, or I would :] Dee-Marie" I really don't believe for a moment you that you have convinced Kurt that "the ART matters" here, or that HE matters here. The only thing you have shown is "an attempt to be polite with the rabble." What I do see is what Kurt see's, a place that pretends to be about ART but really takes a lot more profit in getting a whole bunch of creative starry eyed people together in one place and seeing how much monetary flea market value can be fueled from that creativity and from so many endless hopefulls wanting to get artistically noticed. Excuse me, off to get my hair done. I'm hoping to get noticed later too and I won't if I look like a ragamuffin with split ends, fuzzies and spiders in my hair! Lol!
"just know you get back what you put into a place & the members do matter to us..." LOL!! Putting the ionus back upon me or anyone else that may not agree with the rosy hypocrasy won't work, and if you only knew how rediculous your statement above sounds to far too many folks that still haunt this place just to be reminded about how foolish they were to believe enough to put themselves into this place! Urgh! Spiders, I hate spiders, and they're in my hair! Gotta get me some good spider proof shampoo or stop running into so many cobwebs. Off and running, have fun.
Many spiders create beautiful and elegant webs that are delicate and intricate and wonderfully conceived traps by which the little spiders make their living.
I've been walking around one spider's handiwork for days now ... a web that has spans the width of my porch, and sparkles in the early morning. The spider who created this wonder is the size of my thumbnail (I must look like Godzilla to this tiny creature), is round and reddish brown and not at all attractive. Would be me if I were a spider, I think.
I consider that when the web is broken, as it inevitably will be, the spider will not complain. She will simply spin another one equally beautiful and equally elegant and equally fragile. She has to make her web to live. She has no choice.
I am not a spider. I am defeated by the rough ill will of cynics. And I can live well enough without rendering another graphic or writing another story, without exposing my short coming to the easy sarcasm of others.
Fortunately not everyone is as thin skinned. I have nothing but good thoughts toward those who keep trying and keep growing their abilities, and I also congratulate Renderosity for surviving the naysayers and still providing space to those who keep on weaving their hopes and dreams and nightmares. Some are at the beginning of their journey, some are and always will be hobbyists and self-entertainers, and here and there are the artists who create because they must. Like the spider, creating is essential to their life. It is quite wonderful to see the good, the bad, and the ugly able to co-exist on the galleries.
But, really, all this is an experiment in human nature...the best, and the worst, and everything else in between. That's more interesting than the graphics, I think.
But no one since I joined Renderosity ever agreed with me.
Take care all.
Interesting read dialyn, very thought provoking and almost too caring in some ways. I say this because I hope you don't fall over your own "care" one day as too many people have. Some things you say hold much value, others are just a thought in the wind and not worth much more than how much a spiders web can hold; and even though the best woven webs may catch millions of little flies again and again, the big juicy bugs either fly through or can see past the snare created by the ugly eight eyed, multy legged arachnid smiling in the shadows with welcoming fangs making room for more desserts. Finally got my hair done and I feel so much more beautiful now and I can go out and spin my own web with a smile and have some fun. Enjoy your day! Smiles!
OK - First of all - I have know Kurt for many years [as deemarie and as ladynimue] - I am truly a great admirer of his works, and I was not in any way being anything but honestly sincere in my response to him.
I personally was extremely sadden the day that he removed his images from his Rosity gallery, I was also very happy that he posted a link in his Renderosity home page to his comic strips current home. Kurt [lundqvist] is an amazing artist and an outstanding colorist, and in my heart I shall always consider him part of the Renderosity family.
As to the answering Aragon's question ... Yes, of course there have been many members who have taken their gallery images down, for a variety of reason over the past 7 years. For example, one of our finest artists and one of my best friends [who recently passed from this world], his family took down his gallery not long after his death.
Aragon, you stated an example thus, I too will state another perspective on your example. If a tree were to grow 250 apples, and 50 of those apples fell from the tree, the tree would still have grown 250 apples. The milestone is having 1,00,000 images posted to the galleries, it is not how many images are currently posted but, instead, how many recorded images have been published over the years.
Yet, that does not diminish the milestone. It is after all, a membership milestone! Do I think of the Renderosity community as a family yes! Families have their disagreements, but in the end, they are still family. Am I a starry-eyed artist - perhaps - gentle smile! I can think of worse things to be called.
I personally have come to know some of the most amazing people in the world here, in this Art Community. People from all over the world, people whom I care for deeply. Artists are a passionate lot, that is what makes them great artists the passion!
Have I ever had my feelings hurt by sarcastic tones and words that were quickly posted in passion sure! However, the bottom line is, I sincerely, love Renderosity and its members that is why I have stuck around for as long as I have, and I am proud to be a part of this community, and a part of the Renderosity Team.

Well then, perhaps I should direct this to you as well, and I mean this in the "nicest way" possible. "Interesting read deemarie, very thought provoking and almost too caring in some ways. I say this because I hope you don't fall over your own "care" one day as too many people have." Your own passion for art shows, and who would I be to put you down for that? Your heart and your way of thinking is in the right place, hopefully it will stay that way after all the sarcasm of harsh reality catches up to you. Hopefully it never will, because I hate to see people lose their flavor for value by being dragged through the mudcakes of devalues. May your passion be with you to guide you!! Off to get a manicure today, about time too, I hate these silly hangnails and rough edges on my nails! Lol!
