Subject: How to uninstall Poser 5?

Francemi ( ) posted Tue, 19 July 2005 at 2:52 PM · edited Wed, 12 February 2025 at 3:20 PM

Since I didn't use Poser 5 since I have Poser 6, I would like to uninstall it. I go to Add/Remove Programs and it doesn't show up in the list! Looked into Start Menu/All Programs and it's not there either. How can I uninstall it without uninstalling Poser 6? Thanks. France

If you don`t have any content that you use with poser 6 in the poser 5 drawer, then it is okay to just delete the whole poser 5 drawer.

You mean it is not in the Registry?

On installation, Poser 6 took over anything that an earlier version might have put in the registry.

Do you have this option in your Start Menu? I have it, but installed Poser 5 *after* Poser 6.

No, I don't. I only have that for Poser 6. Poser 5 is not even showing in the Start Menu anymore. If I want to run Poser 5, I have to go to its folder and double-click on Poser.exe. I had a link in my Quick Launch bar for Poser 5 but now if I use it, it launches Poser 6 instead. And Poser 6 is not installed in the same folder as Poser 5. I have both of them outside of Program Files. France

Oops, I didn't see your reply wyrwulf. So then it is really okay to just remove Poser 5 folder?

As long as you aren't going to want anything in the P5 folder, just delete it.

Thank you all of you. I made sure to retrieve all I could need from that folder. Now I will remove it and make some room for Poser stuff. ;o) Of course I could always re-install Poser 5 if I ever want to as I have the CD for both P5 and P6 but it is useless on my computer now. I much prefer Poser 6!

If you are really bothered about the registry you could use regedit and look for poser 5 and delete all the poser 5 stuff you find, there usually is only 3 or 4 things.

Nah... It unnerves me to play with Regedit ;o) I deleted Poser 5 folder and I guess it will have to do. Thanks!

Yep, just go to the Poser 5 folder and hit delete.

France, I don't like to manually tinker with regedit either. So I found this really great program that does it for you. I use it alot! :) Automatically finds reg problems and then you can delete them safely. http://www.sofotex.com/downloads/d7528.html

You're quite welcome, France. :) I always like to reboot my computer after fixing the errors and then try again to be sure it got 'em all. ;)
