Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 7:38 pm)
Super-duper-easy way to select all "blue": have the Outliner open, and select "Hole", then right-click and choose "Select". Having done a few of this type of thing before, I quickly found ways to get things done as easily as possible. I've also assigned [ALT+H] to set selected edges to hard. Another speed-up is to hit [SPACEBAR] after hardening the edges, and then repeat the method for selecting "Hole". Then hit [SHIFT+CTRL+I] to invert selection and hit [S] to smooth. The only thing that remains tedious is transferring the morphs. This kind of tutorial is never a waste of time, since there are many different situations where one may wish to do something similar.

This post has been invaluable to me! One problem I'm having (that I'm sure is an incorrect setting somewhere) is the morphs exploding when I adjust the dial after added to the figure. The smoothing process goes great and the morph gets added to the figure just fine. The morph turns the head into an exploding star pattern indicating that the scale is screwed up somehow. Can someone post a "how to" on the import, export process of getting the morphs out of Poser, into Wings3D and then back into Poser? The settings for import/export in both programs being the most important part. Thanks, Joe
May be you selected the wrong import or export value (most probably). When you imported with scale 20 you have to export with 0.05. If all is already done, try Maz's Scaler and set the reduction to 20

Thanks for the reply's beryld: Yep... I am using TY. I do import the original obj so that shouldn't be a problem. I tried with "As morph target" selected as well as not selected.
Without selected made the exploding head. With it selected kept the head in tact but moved the head below the feet and get smaller. With the morph dial set to 1 the head was too small to see and the geometry streched into a long triangle down below the feet.
Jules: Those are the settings I used for import into Wings3D.
I will try verifying that all joint parms are set to 0 and see if that works.

OK, got my Friday Sci-fi fix, so I have the rest of the night to help you with this. Let us eliminate some of the things that might have happened. Also, what version of Poser are you using and are you using the latest version of Wings. 1. Did you import the original TY object from the character folder into Wings for the smoothing. 2. Double check the Import/Export settings of Wings. 3. When Exporting make sure the Solid Pyramid at the top is selected and you chose EXPORT SELECTED. If all this has been done and all is OK, then I think we will do a quick experiment together and see why it's not working for you.
