I'm kinda stumped by the ENORMOUS! moon. Yikes, the gravitational forces it would exert would cause your world to experience constance earthquakes. I'm sorry I can't help, but I just can't take my eyes off that moon.

lites and blue skies? lol at bandolin!! but yeah.. i was wondering at the huge moon..that seems to be yr subject mmore than the city..a silent moon creeping onto an unsuspecting city? I do know what's missing...billboards! Hoardings! ;-);-) don't mind me..I've turned into an ad freak here ever since me entered the ad world... but yeah..make it a teeming city instead of one with just brown bldings, lites and a few flying thinggies...
well if there are earth quakes depends on how dense the mass of that moon is im amazed bando can calculate it just from this one pic. I think its a great picture make your moon as big as you want.
for
some free stuff i made
and
for almost daily fotos
What you're looking for is exactly what you need. "Suggestion"!! The moon is the power piece in this(brighter white), the City could be darkened quite a bit with the moon casting backlighting artifacts on the buildings, which would create more of a Suggestion of the City. Pin lights across the bulidings to give them a bit of detail. The uniformed color is giving it a flattened look. Just my .02 ICM

Ockham's razor- It's that simple
Looking really nice so far. I don't know about the gravitational pull and earthquakes and all, but, I think the moon maybe looks a little big. Maybe if you went in a little more on the city and concentrated on the ships and traffic a little more, it could look excellent. The detail and textures on the city look cool enough to carry the scene. 20 cents Australian;)
I never intended to make art.
I was wondering if Jupiter would look that big from one of it's moons, and so the moon being really big (being a gas giant I guess Jupter has not much pull?).....I have been doing several versions of this with no luck... will try all the suggestions and post back, thanks, keep them coming...=)

I see where you're coming from Z, I think. Is the city on the gas giant, or is the moon a gas giant? The link above is how I handled it.

"I was wondering if Jupiter would look that big from one of it's moons, and so the moon being really big (being a gas giant I guess Jupter has not much pull?)" Errm .. if you are going for reality, then be aware that Jupiter (and Saturn, which is smaller), although made up of gases (except possbly at the core) actually mass much greater than the Earth. Jupiter's gravitational pull is enormous. (It's sometimes referred to as a "failed star", being not far from the mass limit which starts the gas to implode under it's own gravity, thus starting ignition - as happened with our own sun). Jupiter's moons (at least the nearer ones) are greatly affected by Jupiter's gravity (as skiwillgee states). And Gas Giants are amorphous - they have no solid surface, so no crater impacts, rock-like formations etc.. OTOH - if you're NOT going for reality (hey, this is sci-fi/fantasy!), then maybe the "Planet" is really a moon, which by some freak of nature (and, let's face it there are enough of them about, especially in politics - but I won't go there), ended up as a thin skin of rock over a hollow, vacuum surface:-)) (The rock was molten at 1st, with a bubble of air inside; the heat of the rock expanded the air and gradually cooled and solidified...or something like that. Not scientifically sound, but semi-plausible) :-)) Cheers, Diolma
Thanks for all the suggestions, scientific and otherwise, yeah this is scifi, not really going for the correct physics here, working on it with suggestions incorporated, will post when done...... as an aside, for some reason I can't get back in the zone with Bryce, don't quite know what it is, I have been working in C4D though, learning it and trying to do scenes, so far they are all crappy....but I want to still use Bryce for setups and stuff....just don't seem to know or have ideas for Bryce scenes lately....or the ones I do don't look like what's in my head, a head to hand blockage maybe......it's very disconcerting
