It's actually 5 pcs = 1 Rendered in Bryce 5.5. This is the base paint paint for one component of a scene. Graybase, BronzeLight, BronzeDark, ShipHull(sharpened), & Glass. It's a Cargo Ship built by Rochr. The model is one static piece. With all these layers I can adjust, remove, or even render more style options. Plus added features later. So many available Options. BBL Enjoy ICM

So, help out a dunce here: Did you render it five times and layer it in posts? Or did you do it in the DT editor somehow? I like the effect. Very nice.

RodsArt ( ) posted Mon, 05 September 2005 at 11:34 AM

5 Renders with different Materials. One Mask render of the ship. Layered together, adjusments made to individual layers for desired effect.

waldomac ( ) posted Mon, 05 September 2005 at 12:02 PM

Cool. So you adjusted tranparency to get them to show are varying degrees? Did you do postwork in Photoshop?

RodsArt ( ) posted Mon, 05 September 2005 at 12:29 PM

Base Gray Layer is set at Normal, both Bronze layers at Overlay with varying opacity, ShipHull Material set at Multiply, light opacity. Glass layer set at Overlay, approx 50% opacity. No postwork at this stage, although in the WIP I've done PortGlass and Thrust exhaust. Next will be rendering Some sort of tethers and then EnviroPods attached. Eventually I'll be using Phil D's model for a close focus Item.

Well I like it. I can see I need to dig deeper into Bryce to see what I can do with layering. Interesting stuff.

RodsArt ( ) posted Mon, 05 September 2005 at 12:48 PM

I'm sorry, my fault. All this "Is" layered in PhotoShop. I didn't explain well enough. Each clip of the different colored/material ships "Is" a Bryce Render, Then I use the "Mask object" render in order to cut the ship out of it's original BMP format image with PhotoShop. When I said there is No Postwork I was referring to brushed out or Special filters used to alter the original render. I'll post the WIP so far and you can see the difference.

This is just great an all, but does it make it go any faster?

" This is just great an all, but does it make it go any faster?" Of course not!! ICM hasn't textured the go-faster stripes yet...:-)) Great work, ICM. Keep 'em rolling. Cheers, Diolma

I just noticed I was drooling. This is sheer mind-blowing texture work, you're so going to have tutorial demands. Actually, let me be the first to demand one! Gimme! Great job, hope this is as fun as it looks.

I've done some multi-render compositing before. It had more to do with being easier than UV mapping at the time rather than adding extra cool detail. (Some funny Surfing Cow pic I did a good while back.) This one beats that pic by far in the cool material and effects departments. If for some reason UV mapping isn't your cup o' tea, this technique works rather well if you know your way around with masking in PhotoShop/Gimp/PaintShopPro. :D

That's something else. Such an elegant solution with great results. I've had Rochr's model for a while, now you've given me cause to try this. Thanks.

Any special reason for naming the craft RH-1? ;) A great way of texturing a model, and still keep full control of the layers. The thing never looked better. :)
