Blender F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 24 8:44 pm)
how are you texturing? Are you using the uv window settings or are you using a different method? I know when I first started with blender, I avoided the uv window because it was "too hard to understand", and used the texture button instead. Now I am expertimenting with uv, and sometimes the textured view does just as you describe. I figured it's my poor 'puter, since this one was not put togther to handle 3d rendering very well. It barely handles 2d images as it is.

I'm doing a tutorial at the attached link - doesn't use the UV method. I've an image that shows what's happening. Thanks!yep..that's a gremlin alright:D Sorry I'm not much help. Maybe they got the codes for the buttons mixed up? I gotta try that method out now...that apple looks way tooo cool. I'm on 2.37 as well..let's see if the same thing happens. Up to now, I've been playing with the game engine, and never really paid much attention to the render window, or what it did. UVs don't generally look right in the 3d view on my machine, but it looks ok in the game engine.
Actually I talked to the people on the irc channel..it seems to not be a bug afterall...only textures that are uv'ed are supposed to show in the texture window. It doesn't make sense to me, but maybe they're in the process of eliminating the older process? Looks like some of the older tutorials will need to be updated, if that is true:D

I'm using blender 2.37 - still getting used to Blender in general so maybe I'm doing something wrong but I've found that the textured shading option in the 3D window displays objects as the default grey even with a texture applied. Also the shaded display shows objects with textures only they are blurred. Textures all look fine when I actually go to render. I'm using a GeForce 5700 and I just updated the driver but the trouble persists. Is this a bug with v2.37 or is there some Open GL setting or something I'm missing somewhere?
