Just uploaded a new image - (see link) - but the quality isn't as good as the bmp image of this scene. I still have the original bmp is there anything I can do to get the jpg to look less fuzzy than it does now? I.e. closer to the bmp?

I had the same problem, until Draculaz was kind enough to tell me what to do: Don't use the "save image as" option. Use "export image" instead, export as Photoshop file, open in Photoshop or whatever you use, then save as jpg. That helps a lot :)

Or in PSP (Paint Shop Pro) use SAVE COPY AS and save at max quality using the Wizard. Come to think of it, since using B5.5c I find that I have to do a single Sharp pass to help the jpg on a little.

fuzzy pics in jpg are due to too much compression in bryce. to do your own, save as bmp and in any drawing prog adjust the compresion setting (anything from 72 up will be ok) while saving .

for some free stuff i made
and for almost daily fotos

ek-art, Thanks for that it is a little better. But if possible I'd like it better still. I need to reduce the image KB a tiny bit though, as it must be under 512KB for uploading to the forum and the jpeg from the export to psd is 672KB... is there a way? Bryster, What Wizard? And what do you mean by "a single sharp pass"? I'm fed up with the umpteewumpty passes this darned render has had already, I don't think I could live through another one. Especially as nothing seems to change from pass to pass. Thanks pakled, but there's a sharpen in both Photo and Paint shops, although I'm a bit wary of using them as they can sometimes make it worse. ysvry, I don't save as jpeg in Bryce - only bmp. And I don't see any compression settings for higher than 12.

Bryster, I tried that, - it's not under "Effects" but the next top menu thing. Tried it anyway in both PaintShop and PhotoShop - didn't like it. It looked worse in both cases. Can I use the original .bmp to print out the design for ironing onto a T shirt? (A4 only - my printer won't take bigger sheets)

In PSP6 (old, I know), you can open your BMP and choose File->Export Image->JPEG, then choose the percentage of compression. I think that this is what Bryster said in his original post; he is wise. =) If you choose low values of compression, you will have lower compression artifacts. I've never had the exporting function in PSP "blur" it, although at higher levels of compression you do get a lot of artifacts.

I've already done the "export from Bryce as a psd file" thing that I thought was what Bryster said... but when then saving as a jpeg, it deteriorates... more than I remember it ever doing on other images I've done, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong on this one... I tried reducing the size of the psd file before saving as a jpeg but it's only when it IS a jpeg that I find out how big the file is, and it still needed reducing in size... All this is a bit fiddly. I keep forgetting what stage I'm at with what filename.... I've got loads of these blinking blue things now. Lol.
