I think many are amusing or intriguing but don't have a favorite. I tend to appreciate the ones that are a bit 'over the edge' unusual combinations of words (like "voodomessiah") or spellings (like "ynsaen") or names that simply make you wonder "(William The Bloody" - I'm not familiar with the show so I've always wondered if he was a vampire or something [grin]).

I thought SamTherapy was a real name....

As far as dumb names I've used, Bobasaur is the only name I've ever used and I'm not sure it's dumb. I chose it when I was a newbie because I wanted to put a twist on a very common name (Bob) that had nothing to do with my real name (Kevin) and guard my identiy - at least a little - in this wild chaotic online environment.

Acadia ( ) posted Wed, 04 January 2006 at 11:11 AM

The origin of my name came after careful thought. My nicknames are an extension of me; be it something that interests me or is a part of my personal history. I also tend to go with "normal" names that are easy to pronounce and type :) I picked "Acadia" because I'm part French Canadian and liked the sound of it. One drawback of it though is that people tend to automatically assume it's ARcadia. I did a search of the site and found that I'm the first "Acadia" here. I noticed that a few who have come after me have used the longer variation "Acadian". I have used other nicks on other sites using a pet's name, a favourite cartoon character, Greek Gods, celesteal bodies, cars, flowers, geographic locations (IE: Countries), US States etc. I usually tag something to the end of it, often again, something that is meaningful to me. Someone asked if we are our nicknames, or if we become them. For me my nickname is just an extension of who I am; a name that is "annonymous" to use on the internet. Real name, or nickname, it doesn't matter; I'm me know matter what name I use.

I don't know if I should reveal the origin of my name... I love the mystery in a name.

I am sorry to say I have always realy liked ynsaen as a combination of letters and I am sad to know the derivation now. Oh well. But it is still a great name.

Change Bobasaur! insanity! That is such a cool name! Though in this case I do apreciate it that much more for knowing your real name isn't Bob.

Flip to Francemi I consider it a courtesy to always use people's screen names, even if I know their real names well, even if I am responding to a post they just ended with their real_world name... why? I dunno... I have no idea where I got these habits. Why do I rarely "sign" my posts with my screen name but then I some times I do?

Some good names are turning up... thanks for playing :)

momodot :)

I like the names AlarmedBread - cause it's just funny to think of bread being alarmed..lol oooZENOooo - is a pretty cool name, although I must admit first seeing this name,I thought the ooo's were pronounced...lol LawnDartLawnDart - because of they way they got the name from a typo,it just made me laugh so hard I never forgot it byAnton - I think this one is simple so that makes it cool, but it's also odd, like if you were reading "created by byAnton" it looks like there is a typo in there...lol -3dz

Acadia, I KNEW it had something to do with French Canadian! when I first saw your name, and forever after, it has automatically made me think of Acadie in Quebec...whenever I see your name, I think of that right away...not that I've ever been there, just to Montreal and Quebec City, although I heard friends talk about Acadie...wow, how cool...hehe momodot and operaguy...I am so sorry, I never meant to take the mystery out of ynsaen for you...I apologize, I would have private messaged what it was if I had have known... :( ratscloset...I always grin when I see your name in Daz forum threads... ;)~

@momodot, Fear not. At this point I'm not planning on changing Bobasaur. I've gotton used to being called Bob - although I sure was confused the first few times it happened!!! Now I comfortably respond to Bob - at least online. I won't tell you what I comfortably respond to offline.... [grin]

I have always been "Kristta" and if I try to register and it's taken, I don't register. Cassette is the one of the names I remember from here for some reason. Pakled is another. Momodot a third. Kristta is a soul name. I believe it's my soul's name. My parent's named me one thing but it has never felt right so I did some reasearch and used several methods to come to the name Kristta.

Kendra ( ) posted Wed, 04 January 2006 at 1:00 PM

My name tends to be unique so when I signed on 5-6 yrs or so ago, I was the only one. Now there are several variations:
Kendra245
frogkendra
KarmaKendra
kendragon
KendraLynn
kendramoon
Kendrayost
rakendra

There are too many unique "favorites" to mention the only screen names I dont like are simple numbers after a name.

In all truth the funniest name I ever saw was on Harmony Central. One of the guys there was called Johnny Shithead (pronounced Shih-theed). Another worthwhile mention from the same place was Pastor of Muppets but I guess you'd have to be a Metallica fan to dig the reference. As for my handle, well it stems from the fact that one of my bands is called King Dice. All clear now? No, I thought not. :)

igohigh is pretty cool! Like that one the most. there are quiet a few I like here, wish I'd know I was going to stay I'd have picked a better one myself lol. As for the dumbest one....that's easy years ago when I first got a comp i went to yahoo games, every darn nick was taken and it wouldn't let me use titswiggle or dickdangler ...sooo I got fedup and as a smart a** used nutsnailer, wouldn't you know it that one took lmao. Still use it if I ever go play around there. I also like existentialdisorder, and bloodknightvampire. I think if the name is original and not sounding like most, I like it lol there are alot more cool ones yet...

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Wed, 04 January 2006 at 4:01 PM

I'm one of the schizophrenic ones. I've got 2 names and it annoys me greatly. MOST places I'm TrekkieGrrrl nowadays, but when I discovered the internet I soon took up Ern Yoka. That, too has a funny story. Ern is old norse for "The Clever One"..er... I thought.. it perhaps could rub off... and Yoka... stems from a bad habit I had years and years ago. It's a tag. It's also a silly way to spell Joker. TrekkieGrrrl is pretty straightforward I guess. Some claim I should change it to Snape's Grrrl... but there's already so many of those, so... I do call myself Trekkie and answer to Trekkie. For instance I called BenDover at New Year's eve and I did introduce myself as Trekkie G I have a few other names I use when I want to be incognito. So it would be rather silly to tell those LOL It's been years and years since I last used any of them though. Names I like? Well ynsaen and BenDover are among my favourites. Bobasaur too. And Wolf359 for obvious reasons. Same reason why I like Pakled (though I STILL think of you as Nu-Be)

I can't think of any actual names I strongly like or dislike, and it's mostly the person behind the ID which makes them memorable. I do struggle a little remembering the name+number combinations, and wonder just how many Karens came before our much-harassed moderator. As for my name, it's a net-identity I've used for years, starting on some online-games. People were even surprised that "Antonia" hadn't already been picked as a character-name, back in 19-[mumble]. And I still am sometimes confused with "Antonio". I use the ID, and a couple of slight variations, on several 3D sites. I don't have stripes or a tail in real life.

Cooler's dealing with some personal issues right now. Send your best wishes his way. Antonia -- not stripes or tail, eh? THat leaves claws, ya know :D lol

...wonder just how many Karens came before our much-harassed moderator. Picturing a graveyard with 1572 karens in it, all past mods of the Dreaded Posert Forum LOL. Actually the 1573 is my birthdate. Created my first net identity back in, I dunno, about '97 I suppose, and didn't really spend much time reflecting over it. Now I just use it almost everywhere, although in some places I'm pocket_saviour. I like the plays on words I see in here. BenDover is a classic, although I'm not sure I twigged to that one for a while. I don't think I twigged to ynsaen until I saw her "real name" in the member panel...

in an alternative world I used to be "musselwoman", named after a character I played in a couple of community arts films. She carted along a bucket of mussels and tried to sell 'em. Ironically I hate shellfish. Also, I'm anything but a "musclewoman" - around 7 stones (98 lbs) wet thru. It was a loooooooooooonnnng time ago, so decided to change my handle. ;-)

going back into time... I was asked to join an Adult Star Trek club (the Agerial Konfederation of Free Traders - the AKFT).. as most of the clube were Klingon, I wanted a Klingon name. I wanted the Klingon word for 'Fire', since I have red hair, I wanted to be a red haired Klingon. I shouted this across the pub to a mate of mine that speaks Klingon with him shouting back 'baH!' hence K'baH was born. over the years K'baH became Kaibach (the way K'baH is pronounced), with someone working out that baH does not mean Fire it means Open Fire on... .... my name was Open fire on the Kaptain. HAAAAYLP!!! anyway. when me and the AKFT parted ways, Kaibach became Kai Janus Bach. since everyone was grabbing Kai, I added the H to become Khai Janus Bach... ....you may now all wake up.
