Subject: Magnet: "Remove" Element to Deform (instead Add)

After an "Add Element to Deform" list of a Magnet, is it possible to remove it ? ( I can not find any kind of "Remove Element to Deform" button ) Thank you Marcio

Not technically, but if you want the magnet off of a certain body part, simply select that body part and set, for example "Mag 1" to zero in the parameter list. -WTB

Click on the magnet so that the magnet is the active element and hit Del.

jules, they added areas to affect, they dont' want to delte the magnet entirely, they just want to get rid of some added areas of affectation.

For Poser 7, I'd like e-frontier to change the "Add Element to Deform" interface. Replacing it with a hierarchy-window checklist would be a vast improvement, workflow-wise.

If you want to use the effect of the mags, just mark the deformed object, Object/Spawn Morph target, give it a name, set dial to 1 and then delete the magnets. Save your work before you delete the mags as a PZ3. Then delete the mags as shonw above.

As William said there is no Poser method (that I know of) to remove a 'deformTarget', but you can turn the effect of the magnet off from the "Mag #" dial which will have been added to the element.

You could use a pz2 file to do this, wether this would be quicker than setting the dials to zero by hand would depend on how many deformTargets you wanted to act on and wether you know the names of the actors and magnets before hand. Here is an example of such a pose file:

{<br></br><br></br>actor box_1<br></br>      {<br></br>   channels<br></br>            {<br></br>           deformerPropChan Mag  1<br></br>                     {<br></br>                   keys<br></br>                                {<br></br>                           k  0  0<br></br>                             }<br></br>                   }<br></br>           deformerPropChan Mag  2<br></br>                     {<br></br>                   keys<br></br>                                {<br></br>                           k  0  0<br></br>                             }<br></br>                   }<br></br>           }<br></br>   }<br></br><br></br>figure<br></br>     {<br></br>   }<br></br>}

Perhaps a Python script could be written to do these functions, offering you a list of actors to choose from. Sounds handy, any Python gurus reading this? Message edited on: 01/12/2006 06:24

Thank you (this is one of the most responsive forum I saw so far). Just as a comment, normally the "DEL" button comes together with the "ADD" button. I wished my bank account had only the "ADD" button. Regards Marcio
