One for the sci-fi buffs and physics graduates... (I'm sort of both - love sci-fi, and did quantum mechanics as part of my electronic engineering degree...) The link takes you to a New Scientist article about a 1950's scientist (little known today, but the article says was something of a celebrity in his day). The scientist - Heim - postulated that magnetic energy and gravity were interchangeable, effectively bridging Einstein's theory of relativity and quantum mechanics... Further, that this effect could be used to power a spacecraft. Anyway - if you are interested in this stuff, read the article - it's amazing to think what might have been: if only... Garry

I love this kind of stuff too! It's a very interesting article. Thanks Garry.

A very interesting article indeed. The interaction of magnetic fields and gravity as a form of propulsion has often been associated with UFOs, particularly the Janus stories, in which the propulsion system appeared to require the use of a rotating arm rather like a centrifuge that applied an anti-gravity force to the ship that increased as the speed of the rotating arm increased. I have seen this effect - well almost - in action while at collage. During a practical demonstration of what happens to generators when they are not 'in-phase' two generators were deliberatly put out-of-phase. They instantly attempted to occupy the same point in space, something that was only prevented by the fact that they were both bolted onto test-beds. Go figure.

Thanks much! I really enjoyed reading the article. I would love to know if his theories really work, what a stride in space exploration and physics that would be.

Pretty nifty stuff. Anyone got an orbital photon modulator, a flux capacitor and/or trans-capacitor, and an cathodic lithium target generator sitting around? Oh yeah, I might also require a power supply capable of producing a peak output of 1 GW. :) Thinking of a tricky way to use frame dragging along with paired photons and resonance in order to do some useful mass entrainment. Going from A to B is probably just an overlooked energy transfer problem.

Interesting article, same kind of stuff, the "electro-cynetic" theory is quiet impressive too, and it really works, you can built at home a flying object, without any engines for propulsion but electricity. Must be seen to believe. This is the Biefield-Brown effect check this URL there are some videos

garryts: Only 6 dimensions? All Righty then... try this site: (I know I've ref'd this site before but it was many mouse years ago in a galaxy that now seems far far away . . .) http://www.mkaku.org/ besides how many times do you get to ref someone that it seems that you've actually met - but then my memory is like swiss cheese can't live with it and can't live without it (or is that women?) anyway enjoy - and if you happen to look at those formuli for string theory.... perhaps you could 'splain 'em to me. Ive gotta say, this article has peeked my interest in a man Ive not known about until this article. I truly wish I had known about this most fascinating individual before his death in 2001. But as it often happens, we go through life missing some of the finer things. I mean this from an intellectual point.

One must imagine that the historical period in which he lived played paramount in his life. A world embroiled in turmoil (World War II) and a brilliant mind working along the social stratum of the time. I see that in the Internet, several writers have asked for others with papers this man might have written to please step forward and help write his biography.

Heres an individual that apparently has gone without social recognition of what may turn out to be the most important advance in physics since Albert Einstein and Max Karl Ernst Ludwig Planck, certainly using their two theories. I find this deeply enthralling since all three men were born in Germany and their works produced under the auspices of the Nazi Third Reich. It would seem as they say: necessity is the mother of invention and theres no greater necessity than when a nation is at war and in self-preservation mood. Mind you, it took Heim the majority of 76 years of his life to write his theory.

Perhaps I may be premature in saying this until his theory may be proved one way or another. But similar to Nikolai Tesla this man may have gone virtually unrecognized. The bigger question is, how many others? Personally I feel his theory is closer to the modern day String Theory now better known as M Theory with multiple dimensions. M Theory. Or now from Wikipedia, the "U" Theory

Thank you Gerryts!
