Hi guys!

Just wanted to share with you one of my all time favorite figures !!!

NEA

I did this tests with the default NEA and the default NEA TOON from Stahlratte and Pitklad

NEA is very versatile and comes packed with tons of amazing morphs and the polygon count is really small so they animate like a charm.!

I simply adore them o_~

Hope you like them !

I want to thank deeply Stahlratte and Pitklad for sharing their work with us for free !

My gratitude !

Hugs,
a fan of yours,

warpo

Man, that Toon Nea is sweet, Warpo. What gave your render such beautiful sheen and gloss. Those lips rock but the sheen on the skin as much. Great work Pitklad and Stahlratte!

warpo ( ) posted Sun, 22 January 2006 at 9:37 PM

Thanks momdot!

I achieved the sheen and gloss on the skin and lips by carefully mixing nodes with a custom bump map, painted in Photoshop, specifically the blinn and glossy nodes, I also used the fast scatter and transparency nodes, some mathematical variable functions and the skin node.

The result is a Poser 6 skin material that reacts to the lights in your scene with dramatic highligts and emulate how the skin reflects the lights and absorb some.

The cool thing is that once you set the nodes ^_^; you can move or add lights and change cameras freely and the skin reacts to the changes in realtime !!! perfect for animation !!!!

no need to mess with the nodes again ! lol
im writing a Python script to make it even easier but im still testing o_~

If i find it to be helpful and useful to others, I'll be glad to share it for free o_~

wish me luck on my experiments !

yours

warpo

Yeah, the lashes are great. I think mesh lashes are the way to go instead of transmap. Are these actual mesh lashes? They are superb. I for one would love to have the node scrpt if you release it... just seeing the word blinn makes me want to pass out. Those lips are so so nice. Dunno if this is of any interest but here was an attempt I made at completely procedual skin based on info from face_off --only the eyese and lashes are textured.

yungturk39 ( ) posted Mon, 23 January 2006 at 1:38 AM

WOW! Thanks Momodot! That looks amazing! I really love procedural textures, but I'm curious...just how much faster ARE they than actual pictures? I don't get it...you'd think all those calculations would actually take longer for the computer to figure out and render...

pitklad ( ) posted Mon, 23 January 2006 at 3:49 AM

warpo those are great renders! Thanks for sharing!
The texture is very well done, very realistic!
Also those lashes look fantastic!
Stahlratte has done a high quality morph for Nea once again!
Even I couldn't recognise that Toon Nea comes from NEA!
And with P6 smooth render she looks like a much higher resolution mesh!

Pitklad I'm honored by your comments !

Momodot thanks for sharing, my node setup is something similar but its about 30 nodes !

Yungturk39 In NEA's Test, even when my nodes where over 30 nodes per material it rendered under 2 minutes with the highest settings, raytrace, shadows, and displacements included.

This is also affected by the specs of the computer you are using

I work on a new MAC Powerbook G4 aluminium /15 1.67 GHz with Mac OS X Tiger with Poser 6, and its a joy o_~ RAM also counts lol!

But NEA is so gentle with her low polygon count that its a blessing in every system!

... Yup guys the lashes where modeled as single clusters and then placed and grouped and exported as an obj prop parented to the figures head and the eyebrows are modeled props with handpainted transmaps.

It's cool to have control over the lashes and eyebrows ! but most of all its fun! o_~

included a screenshot of the lashes wireframe

Momodot here's a fast overview of my nodes

I'ts very hard to arrange them all on the screen, opened and collapsed at once, but you can have a general idea of the nodes I used in my test.

warpo

momodot ( ) posted Mon, 23 January 2006 at 9:08 AM

warpo, all I can say about those nodes is YIKES! But the results are lovely. Those lashes are so artistically done. Realistic but a real artist at work. Did you make curling and scaling morphs on the individual lash hairs to shape them once they were in place? Did you scale up Posette huge to do the work? Your use of repeated clusters is clever but subtle. warpo, I'm really psyched to see this work. It's great. Of course Stahlratte and pitklad deserve their praise as usual.

warpo ( ) posted Mon, 23 January 2006 at 9:45 AM

THANKS !!!!!!! Momodot

It's a blessing to receive the lovely feedback from others, it encourages us to keep on and on, doing what we love ! o_~

hehe !! yup Momodot! individual lashes strands where scaled and morphed to add versatility and animation capabilities.

Also did global lashes morphs to NEA's basic expressions to suit her generously included morphs like closed eyes and Stahlratte's delicate smiles o_~

Its a joy to see how far our beloved Posette still the queen, moving on and on to keep up with the latest Poser blessings,

this is all due to people like Pitklad and Stahlratte ,who share their love for the Diva since Poser 4, and keep it fresh in our runtimes and our hearts!

"Let the NEA's love spread !!!!!

sincerely,

warpo

momodot ( ) posted Mon, 23 January 2006 at 10:37 AM

Geez! warpo, if that is a picture of you you sure are damn good looking! Usually only ugly people post their images. Only other really cute guy I have seen in the Poser world is Casette. Yeah, I am definitely into this Posette scene.... been trying to work on full face expression morphs when I have time. If any one reading... there are two Posette morphs I seek. One a morph to smooth the nostril wings to be like NEA's and another to smooth the bottom of the rib cage. I had made the latter back long ago but now I have it only compounded into other morphs. I am still trying to see what MorphWorld stuff I have buried in my boxes of floppy discs. The nose is on Traveler's MorphWorld disc and I am trying to work up the courage to ask him to give me those three nostril morphs since just can't make my self shell out $45US for the disc! but I am hesitant. I am using NEA, especially with Stahlratte work, but I am also using Posette for morph work I had done long ago, FBMs, etc, and a while ago before Nea I shelled out big money for a couple P4 textures I love like Shelly by BTSculptor.

BLUSH !!!!!! LOL Momodot !!!!!!

LMAO it's me he he ! >_<

just took the pic with my digital cam to study the skin for my "I Love NEA's" nodes setup.

I wanted to achieve a node setup that worked for most lighting conditions without having to change the nodes settings each time i move the camera or lights.

work in process ...

warpo shyly heads back to his corner and continue working<<<<

momodot ( ) posted Mon, 23 January 2006 at 9:16 PM

Oh, I forgot to mention. The reason I posted that image up there is that the hands and feet are scaled up to 150% for a more toon look maybe. I used pitklad's gimmick of changing "scale scale" on the hand and foot actors to "propagatingScale scale" so the fingers and toes scale up smoothly with the hands and feet. I did a little correction on the wrists and ankles with morphs from magnets that pulls the mesh of the forearm and shin in and stretches the joint smooth, this seems to work better than scaling up the joint. The whole thing of changing the .cr2 and making those morphs took about 5-10 minutes.

warpo ( ) posted Mon, 23 January 2006 at 9:17 PM

Momodot Your shadows are awesome!

I never get cool shadows like that lol! >_<

momodot ( ) posted Mon, 23 January 2006 at 9:21 PM

I looked at that other thread... I am just not picking up on what they are doing... I think I get better from using face-off's RealSkinShader and regular P4 type lighting. IBL for way close up. Still, can you explain the "skin" and "clay" nodes possibly? I never use them but I imagine I should.

warpo ( ) posted Mon, 23 January 2006 at 9:36 PM

I don't use the clay node yet, cause as the name implies it gives an overall "clay" appearance, like something carved on mud.

but on the other hand IMHO the skin node gives you some tonal variety to the flesh tones, you should give it a try sometime

in my node setup the skin node is connected to a simple color, an edge blend and the diffuse nodes for subtle variety

Warpo thanks for the link. I sent the message. You know I don't get alot about lighting and such in poser, but I think I'm going to have to find time to figure out what on earth you did to make her texture look so good lol. Sigh the learning never ends.........especially when just as you figure it out they make a new version of poser :0 Take care, Oh and on a side note nice smile ;)

OT kinda. What are you gues doing for P4 clothes. I keep meaning to do bump maps for the standard clothes. Above are the PoserWorld things I have but they are pretty exotic. Same with Ghastly's stuff. I have been converting Don and Judy stuff with Wardrobe Wizard. But are ther nice more knida normal or pin-up clothes for Posette/Nea?

warpo ( ) posted Tue, 24 January 2006 at 5:05 AM

ummm .... I usually model and adapt p4f clothes for NEA myself and there still tons of stuff made for p4f and all her variants like Eve and many other characters based on posette that covers all her clothing needs you should try also some japanese websites who made free contemporary lovely clothes for characters based on posette like "Linlin" "Cancan" "Tenten" "Ranran" ... ect. Phil C also have nice free stuff for the Poser 4 female that fits NEA as well warpo

Modeled this 60's dress long ago based on a red lace and velvet dress, my mother designed and sew for herself, and wears on a faded photo,

but thats how far i went about it o_~

I'm modeling some clothes for NEA as time allows and would be cool if i can share them with NEA fans as well !!!

lol! i wish i got more time

momodot ( ) posted Tue, 24 January 2006 at 9:26 AM

That is a very nice dress. I can never get straight that Japanese stuff... they give the same name to characters on different figures? I have always been against the whole thing of giving figures human names. I have in my library things like "P4NW V2Map", "P4NW RanRan", "P4NW Eve", "P5Body NeaHead" since I can't keep character names straight and some names like Eve are on all sorts of figures. I can't not figure out much of what is going on in Costume Festival... ANAN in a new Judy? TenTen is a cross figure character? Anyway, it looks to me that the Posette based figures are CanCan and RanRan but I did not turn up the clothes for them. Any help straightening it out would be apreciated.

pitklad ( ) posted Wed, 25 January 2006 at 4:53 AM

AnAn : FIGURE (new obj)based on judy with smoother body and more polygons in bending parts and breasts plus corrected joint parameters,Fantastic job by Yamato! There are some clothes for her...

TenTen : HYBRID (new obj) I think it uses AnAn body with V2 head? I don't remember this one very good...

CanCan,RanRan : CHARACTERS for posette with improved joints par. plus morphs and expressions...There is a joint converter pose that will give those characters the original Posette j.p. so that clothes comform correctly
