It depends on what degree of realism you want. Most of the merchants who make textures - myself included - make them from photos of real human skin so there's always a degree of realism there. If it's extreme realism, such as blemishes and wrinkles, StefyZZ is one of the best, IMO. For extremely realistic make up, with great looking skin, Blackhearted's characters take some beating. Orion1167's textures are also first class. Morris is another great texture maker. My own stuff isn't as extremely "real" as these but I incorporate a lot of skin detail into my textures. You'll find any of these artists in the Marketplace here. RDNA is also worth looking at; Syyd's stuff is top notch.

Is this how you do it SAM? SVLD's Words........ It's easy to tile a texture in P5/P6, just reduce the UScale and VScale on the texture map node to a value between 0 and 1. For instance, a value of 0.1 will reduce the texture to 10% of its size and automatically tile it. Yup, the UScale and VScale are pretty cool. I managed to make a good looking fishnet transmap using a 32x32 bitmap, scaled at 0.01/0.01. In P4/PP it would be 3200x3200px.... That's what SVLD said. I was wondering if that's how you make your textures Sam. Signed - Ben
Nope, not at all like that, not for a human figure, anyhow. You need to get the texture template first. You can find them at the product page where you bought your model(s), so if you have Victoria 3, you'll find the template over there at DAZ. Another thing to get hold of is a Seam Guide, which is a texture template with colour coded seams and extra guides to show you where the various bits and pieces go. Once you have those, you need to get yourself a good set of photos, either by joining a site such as 3D.SK or buying them from the Marketplace here. Then, the "fun" begins. You'll have to build up the skin by cutting, pasting, dodging, burning, cloning and painting all these photos together. It's hard work, very time consuming and not for the faint hearted or easily bored.

I would not recommend making your own textures if you're a newbie. It takes a lot of time and skill. Probably most of us never learn to do it (or even try). Many of those who do make skin textures use special software that allows them to paint in 3d (seams are a huge headache otherwise).
If realism is your goal, you might consider buying one of Face_off's packages.
P.S. I don't think svdl understood that you wanted to make human textures out of reference photos. What he described works well for texturing a floor, or a wall, maybe even a dress in a pinch, but it will not work for human figures.
Note that svdl's method only works for "tiling" textures. Human textures are not tiling.

This is something you want to check out for better looking skin. Most texture packages on the MP are very high resolution, easily 3000x3000px or more. Resource hogs. I found that you can reduce the texture map to 1000x1000 or so without losing any quality (except in closeups). The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter

Hi, i'm looking for a REAL skin Texture. I downloaded....."High Quality Male & Female Reference Pictures" by Ghatihan in the Freestuff > Poser > Textures area. it didn't really work for me. i do like & use the "Skin Wet" Texture by Amalia. I just go into the Materials room & choose the part of the body (Like Head)& add the 2D JPEG image into the first node to make real looking skin. I'm wondering if anyone knows a site (maybe RDNA etc..)where i (& the people!)can get a REAL looking skin texture. Thax for reading!!! Signed - Ben
