Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 13 6:58 am)
OH this is complicated...so I took a screen shot of the grand canyon in google earth...inverted the grayscale version...
AND WHY DOES THE VUE TERRAIN EDITOR MAKE SPIKEY THINGS instead of a smooth photo gray scale terrain like BRYCE does with great ease??
I thought it was a better editor when I made a fence...but duh, Lyne- that was a flat white and black area...there was no texture.... Bryce always read the height by the gray scale areas...lighter is higher, to perfection! Why does the vue one disregard this?
Yes I had my slider all the way to picture.... oh pooh! rummages around in the backroom some more.... oh! the FUNCTION editor?? Create with a picture there? Hmmmmm....I am nothing if not persistant! :)

1deg DEM has higher resolution than 7.5deg DEM. (More detail, larger in size). Mazak

I agree Iloco - I wondered if I had the right .DEM as it looked so flat too hehe! I just guessed it was a flat area, but I might be wrong! It was New York West >8o) The default Country Town EcoSystem is a great though innit? I've taken to un-checking Resize and Centre Imports. The larger the scale, the more influence the atmospheric has (I find). I really must start experimenting more with Ecos - they can look so nice! >8o)

I got suddenly interested in useing dem's in vue, when I saw the Google Earth ogl thing (which I am not comfortable trying yet).... Where do I get good dem's...and also I was told by a Bryce user I need a 'viewer' that will convert them into something vue could read? I really want to create "real" mountians, terrains...and I do need a step by step help... hmm I will take a look in the backroom here, but in case it is not answered there... Vue 5.7 Infinite on PC
