Attached Link: Beauty Queen Hair

I'm debating on picking up the Beauty Queen hair by Neftis at Daz... does anybody have any feedback on it? how are the textures/Mats? Render times? Morphs? Thanks for any input. Doug

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

Textures and Mats are good, though I expect better texture packs will be released. The blondes have that sort-of metallic sheen that a lot of hair models seem to have. Renders a little slower than some but not much. Morphs provided are primarily for movement and size of the curled portion of the hair. It's a little cheesy around the hairline. I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10, marking down for the cheesy hairline and lack of shaping options in the morph category. I'd recommend it because there aren't enough hair models in the "Straight on top curly at the bottom" category. -WTB

I do not have this hair but I see the promo images are soft focus. There is probably a reason for this. I bought Classic Hair by Neftis and have never been able to use it. It was an expensive hair but the promo images were soft focus. The hair in clear renders shows bizarre translucency that can be discerned in the promo once you realize that it is not an effect of the post-work haze of the promo. I have not been able to rectify this translucence problem in trying to correct the texture and transparency maps my self, the maps simply do not contain enough value range to permit correction by contrast and gamma adjustment or levels, they are also quite simply blurry. The creator did not respond to my polite inquiry. I went to DAZ and looked at the hair you are considering, it shows the same strange tubular forms, odd transparency, and unrealistic texturing in the promos, look carefully. It looks like a nice hair for middle shots but I doubt it will hold up to close-up render. Even in the mid-shots of the promo the strange blurriness and translucence is evident. This hair might be suitable for you... but I consider Neftis hair to be second generation Poser 4 hair, nothing like that of Mr. Maya, Koziburo, or 3Dream. I must repeat that I have not used this particular hair but I suggest you look closely at the promo "renders" and determine if the oddness that does not result from the post-work is acceptable to you. I am sorry to speak ill of a vendor but there it is.

I think puddykat has elaborated on what I was trying to explain regarding the hairline. -WTB

I don't know if anyone is interested in renders. #1 is the default hair with the default Poser lighting, which I decided not to use for the other renders because it doesn't really show much.

Back view. Hair pulled back (one of the options). Weird blue (yes, that's one of the color choices).

Slightly different style than Christina Hair by Daz but with fewer morphs.

Maybe it's my eyes, but is the hair growing out from the forehead and too far into her face from the side?

I think the fringe of hair in the front is a fringe of bangs. I tend to agree with you that it seems too far into her face from the side. I didn't adjust the hair. I just left it where it loaded so you could see how it defaulted. You might have better results by playing with the settings.

It's a pretty hairstyle. I may still get it because the bang issue wouldn't be noticable with her head in a more "coy" position (tilted down and to the side a little..typical Lady Di style).

I am still of the opinion that hair should be photoshopped into the image during postwork, whether through painting (if you're talented) or else a cut and paste. There are no hair models that I've seen that don't detract from the final image. And the few hair models that come close to being "acceptable"--the Koz ones--tend to be so overused that they become cliche upon viewing them.

I think that's great if you can paint, but I can't and all cut and paste hair, for me, looks exactly like that's what I did. While some people are very talented at painting and pasting, others of us are hapless. I'm always relieved when I find hair that I can use "out of the box" and render directly in Poser so I don't have to worry about matching light and shadows. It's great that you have artistic talent...I envy you that. I don't and won't ever achieve anything but a clumsy result with postwork.
