Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 11 3:50 am)
gobsmacked! He's hunkeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey. James is cool, but even he's not as cool as your creation - izzit him, or not (whispers) Dork??????

I'd say Apollo as well, but there's something about the ears that more reminds me of James. The face, however, is not James-y at all, and neither is the arms. So my bet is Apollo.

Meanwhile, I'm rendering a short animation of my cool new character with the fine shoulders and arms! I'll post it tomorrow, and I'll post the answer to the model and the settings in the morning.
I did use the word "standard", but that does not mean 'came with Poser.' I just meant it was not fresh mesh unavailable to all. Let's just say this is either a Poser-issued figure, or a well-known figure for sale at Rendo, Daz, RDNA, Content Paradise, etc.
Thanks for all the responses, check back in 8 hours or so.

Well, "available" means IMO that it's a character everybody CAN get. That it's not a custom built one. If you've got Poser 4 only you can't say that James and Don are standard either, since they're not included. I'm wondering a bit about the spikes as well, they seem to indicate that we're fealing with a fairly low rez character... Hmm... but the face and the ear again says otherwise. Dork's ear is much more blocky usually. Not that it can't be fixed but judging from the ear, there's no way this is a stock Poser figure. Except perhaps for James. But the upper arms... aren't James'

"V3???" Hmmm... V3 Male. Could be. I still think Apollo because of the poor muscle tone, which is the default ApMax look.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
well those are Max's sadly underdeveloped always erect nipples OR it's vicky on a bad "BOOB" day..the elbows look odd and what's going on in post #1 with the trapezius and neck area? Not being mean, just frustrated, we need a new male figure with good muscle definition(turn off with a turn of a dial), and better elbows and shoulders. Keep plugging away at it maybe you're onto something.
Er.. You can scale almost any body part of Apollo - including the hands - with just one dial. So if you think his hands are too small... just make'em bigger

Goond morning folks, and yes I am please to say Apollo Maximus. Thank you Anton! All of you who found faults with this nip and that tuck, etc., no problem...keep 'em coming especially if you have a remedy and remember, this is after only 2 hours of playing with him, and especially after two hours when the ONLY thing I really cared about is the correction of the stinkin' Poser shoulder pads and inward-curving upper arm! dirk5027, I DO think I am on to something, at least for myself but I'll share for any who care. I'm going to take all the above problems and see what can be done. For one thing, this body texture has virtually no hair. Second, no offense Anton, but the texture itself is not the greatest, but a good start. And my killer ultimate ace-in-the-hole, personally? For my needs, he does not need to be nude very often! I just need a male model that when wearing a shirt or sweater looks like an acutal human being and not an android project by the 8th grade science class in a hurry. Anyone interested in getting Apollo down the path to more-or-less normal shoulders and upper arms, start this way from the defaul: -0.140 body muscles1 -2.500 body define This takes away Apollo's shoulder caps and hero muscles, and yes he looks like he has bad muscle tone. For me, this is not serious because I need him for scenes where he plays a healthy but not bulked person. Plus, I will be tweaking to build back a more shapely figure without disturbing the nice shoulders and upper arms. For me, the next dial to fool with is: -1.000 SizeShldrs Some may actually want to spin UP this setting. Anyway, that gets you started. If you need a muscular hero to sweep that damned Vickie off her feet (or defend himself from her wrathful sword), then hey, Apollo might still be your guy, without the back-down. I still like James and EJ-withMaleMorphs, and will continue to use them. I'll post some shots with his shirt on later today, and an animation. Thanks to everyone posting, and continue if you please with any tips on AM. And thank you, Anton. ::::: Opera :::::
Here's an animation.
This is simply a demonstration of the arm and shoulder issue, I threw it together before going to sleep last night and let it run, it's not a finished work or anything, so please no heavy dings on the animation itself, thanks.

Dang. I just saw this thread and was going to guess "Renda", hehe I remembe everyone complaining about joints.

wasnt sure if it was AM.. but it had a certain anton-style about the face. Something all his male characters share, all the way back to v2M (not that its bad mind you) I know that Anton went through a lot of trouble getting AM's shoulder to work right .. I saw dozens of different rigs and comparison renders while he was working on it :) Good to see all his hard work is appreciated! as for where to get AM.. I believe that Anton announcd in the apollo forum that AM will be moving over to CP entirely.

And remember with apollo you get alot of variety without needing 800+ peices of ridiculous, tedious ,cumbersome INJ/REM/CHAN/VIS/DELTA runtime bloatware.

There have been many threads about Poser rigging and mesh and why this problem is so persistent.
Well, I've found a treasure right under my nose....a standard figure available to the Poser community that, with the spin of two dials in the included morph list, results in problem solved. His shoulder/arm configuration is very close to a realistic (not bulked-up) human male. (bent drinking-straw inner elbow not solved, however)
I am very happy. I've found the leading man for my big project.
No magnets, re-rigging, faceroom or add-on morph packages were used on this image. No postwork. Hair by 3Dream, skin is the default texture of the model kicked up by one of face_off's shader packages. I spent an hour or two spinning the default morphs to turn the body, face and head into a unique character.
Please feel free to guess the base figure in this image.
